  • Patent number: 11517109
Abstract: A motorized positioning apparatus for a seating unit includes a motor assembly that is configured to move a pair of linkage mechanisms though a series of positions that arrange the seating unit in a closed position, open position, or extended position. The motor assembly is selectively and releasably coupled to the linkage mechanisms, to allow the motor assembly to be de-coupled from the linkage mechanisms to allow the seating unit to be manually closed by a user.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 30, 2020
Date of Patent: December 6, 2022
    Assignee: L&P PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY
Inventors: Caleb Browning, Ronald D. Davis, Randy Ford, Vino Gopalakrishnan, David Purser

The motor assembly is selectively and releasably coupled to the linkage mechanisms, to allow the motor assembly to be manually closed by the user and automatically coupled via a coupling mechanism.

  • Patent number: 11221430
Abstract: A multi-frequency sensing system for capacitive, presence-sensing technology incorporated into furniture is provided. Embodiments of the sensing system include at least one capacitive sensor coupled to a furniture item for monitoring an amount of change in capacitance with respect to at least one sensing element coupled to the furniture item. The system further includes a landscape analysis component having a plurality of frequency samplers, which generates an average capacitance change associated with the furniture item. Further, the average capacitance change may be used to determine whether the indication of average capacitance change satisfies a capacitance threshold of the furniture item.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 9, 2019
Date of Patent: January 11, 2022
    Assignee: L&P Property Management Company
Inventors: Eric D. Miller, Braden Berziel, Vino Gopalakrishnan, Jonathan Kaufmann, Douglas E. Conyers

  • Patent number: 10386206
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for active-mirroring, capacitive monitoring of furniture are provided. More particularly, the invention relates to an active mirroring system for a furniture item that monitors a first sensor type over a first frequency, while applying an inverse first frequency to at least one other sensor type coupled to the same furniture item. As such, the additional sensor types receiving the inverse sampling frequency may be dampened and/or cancelled, thereby preventing interference during monitoring of the first sensor type. In further aspects, a monitoring and mirroring cycle is provided, for sequentially monitoring and mirroring capacitive sensing mechanisms on different portions of a common furniture item.
