Abstract: According to aspects illustrated herein, methods and systems for retaining duplex scanning information in a scanned output file, is disclosed. The method includes receiving a document for scanning, having multiple pages, wherein each page has a first side such as a front side and a second side such as a back side. Then, a check for selection of a duplex scanning feature by a user, is performed. Upon scanning, an image data representing an image of the document is generated. The image data and the duplex scanning feature selected by the user is processed to generate a scanned output file. The duplex scanning information is generated, while generating the scanned output file. The duplex scanning information is retained in the scanned output file, for later retrieval and use. The duplex scanning information helps identify the first side and the second side in the scanned output file.

A method includes receiving a document for scanning, by a multi-function device, wherein the multi-function device is configured with an identity key, wherein the multi-function device is enabled with a secure scanning feature. An image data corresponding to the document is generated. A scanned document corresponding to the image data is generated. Then, content of the scanned document is encoded with the identity key of the multi-function device, to secure the content in the scanned document, wherein the content of the scanned document is accessible only at a device having the identity key. The device can be the same multi-function device that encodes the content of the scanned document. The device can be a different multi-function device but configured with the same identity as of the multi-function device.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are configured to release a secure print job between users. They include receiving a print job associated with an electronic document created by a primary user, the print job comprising instructions for secure print authentication by a secondary user. They also include providing access by the secondary user to a print list comprising a subset of secure print jobs comprising the print job created by the primary user and providing the secondary user with an alternate access mechanism for the secure print authentication for printing the electronic document as part of the print job created by the primary user based on a relationship between the primary user and the secondary user. They also include providing instructions to print the electronic document when the secondary user has completed the alternate access.

Abstract: A method for printing documents includes detecting a trigger event when a portable memory device is communicatively connected to a print device. The print device is in communication with a data store that contains print history identifying one or more files printed using one or more print devices. The method includes receiving an instruction to print a document file stored on the portable memory device, identifying a property associated with the document file, and comparing the property associated with the document file to the print history to determine if a previously printed document in the print history is substantially similar to the document file. If a previously printed document in the print history is substantially similar to the document file, before printing the document causing a user interface to output a prompt that the document file has previously been printed, otherwise causing the print device to print the document.
