  • Publication number: 20050263029
Abstract: A projectile comprised of: a projectile body comprising a lower base with a first and second end and an upper wall section, in which the first end of the lower base has a substantially planar top surface and the upper wall section extends axially from the top surface, and the lower base forms an axial bore and an axial passage, in which the axial bore extends from the second end to the axial passage and the axial passage extends from the axial bore to the first end; a powder capsule within the axial bore for holding an explosive charge; a detonation fuse disposed in an operative position adjacent to the top surface of the projectile body; an O-give having a rearwardly open hollow interior and an end portion adapted to engage the upper wall section of the projectile body; a firing member secured to the O-give and positioned to engage the detonation fuse upon impact of the projectile; an anti-creeping mechanism between the O-give and the detonation fuse to prevent movement of the detonation fuse toward the firi

  • Publication number: 20050145812
Abstract: A device comprised of a solenoid portion and a valve unit. The solenoid portion is comprised of a coil with a bore therethrough, a fixed magnetic pole piece substantially within the coil bore, an axially translatable armature forming an axial air gap between the armature and the pole piece, and a biasing mechanism. The valve unit is mechanically coupled to the solenoid valve and comprised of a base member with a chamber, fluid input and exit ports defined by a base member, a valve seat with a valve seat bore, and a poppet assembly within said chamber and mechanically coupled to the armature. The poppet assembly is comprised of a poppet with a lapped surface and a poppet cavity. The lapped surface creates a fluid seal with the valve seat. When the solenoid coil is subject to an electric current, the poppet assembly, mechanically coupled to the armature, axially translates from the valve seat, allowing a fluid to exit the solenoid valve proportional to the electric signal applied to the device.

  • Publication number: 20050145813
Abstract: A valve assembly comprised of a solenoid coil, having a coil bore, and being operative to produce a magnetic field when subject to an electric signal, a fixed magnetic pole piece within the coil bore, a generally cylindrically and axially translatable armature with a disc-shaped portion and an aperture therethrough, a valve base with a fixed portion over which the armature fits and forming a fluid cavity therebetween. The armature aperture allows a fluid to pass through the disc-shaped portion and into the fluid cavity to substantially equilibrate the fluid pressure on the armature in an axial direction. The valve assembly further includes a solenoid base which forms a chamber around the armature and a biasing mechanism between the magnetic pole piece and the armature which axially translates when the magnetic pole piece is subject to the electric signal, allowing the fluid to pass through the valve assembly in proportion to the electric current.

  • Publication number: 20050115618
Abstract: An actuator assembly comprised of: a first coil and a second coil, each with a bore and a producing a magnetic flux when subject to an electric signal; a tube extending through the bores such that coils are coaxial; a magnetic pole piece within the tube and generally between the first bore and the second bore; a magnetic ring set outside of the tube and between the coils, in which the magnetic flux paths both travel through the magnetic pole piece and the magnetic ring to complete their respective magnetic paths; and a first and second axially translatable movable member within the tube and wherein the movable members each axially translate towards the magnetic pole piece in the presence of the magnetic flux such that by controlling the electric signal, proportionality can be achieved.
