  • Patent number: 7177449
Abstract: An image correction system comprises a detection application accessible by a processor and adapted to identify a viewing direction of at least one eye of a subject within an image. The system also comprises a reconstruction application accessible by the processor and adapted to automatically modify the image to modify the viewing direction of the at least one eye of the subject.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 26, 2002
Date of Patent: February 13, 2007
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Virgil Kay Russon, Scott Clinton Baggs
  • Patent number: 7146063
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting and fixing incorrect dates tagged to digital images is disclosed. The current date on a digital imaging device and the dates tagged to digital images are used to determine any potentially incorrect dates tagged to the digital images. When the date on the digital imaging device is incorrect the dates tagged to the images may be incorrect. When the dates tagged to the images are old, or close to a default date, or have large gaps between groups, the dates may be incorrect. The potentially incorrect dates may be brought to the users attention, and after user conformation the dates are corrected.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 29, 2003
Date of Patent: December 5, 2006
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Mark D. Seaman, Eric E. Williams, Virgil Kay Russon
  • Patent number: 7028058
Abstract: A method of preserving metadata in an electronic image file includes copying metadata into the image file from a metadata backup database after the metadata are removed from the electronic image file. An image file management application comprised of computer-readable instructions stored on a computer-readable medium, causes a computer or processor to access an electronic image file and copy metadata into the image file from a metadata backup database after the metadata are removed from the electronic image file.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 23, 2002
Date of Patent: April 11, 2006
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
    Inventor: Virgil Kay Russon
  • Patent number: 6816277
Abstract: Image processing systems for converting image data corresponding to a document, where the image data exhibits a first format, are disclosed. In this regard, a representative image processing system includes a file conversion system configured to receive information corresponding to the image data as well as information corresponding to a second format to which the image data is to be converted. Additionally, the file conversion system is configured to retrieve information corresponding to a set of format rules, where the set of format rules corresponds to the second format. Thereafter, the file conversion system converts the image data to converted data representative of image data and exhibiting the second format without rescanning, reanalyzing, or reprocessing the document. Methods and other systems also are provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 30, 2001
Date of Patent: November 9, 2004
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Doug Kaltenecker, Carl Staelin, Ryan Kunz, Virgil Kay Russon

  • Publication number: 20040076346
Abstract: A method of displaying a scanned image, comprising the steps: optically scanning a document to render an electronic image of the document, zooming in on the image to magnify a subset of the electronic image using a software zooming methodology, thereby rendering a first zoomed image; and refreshing the first zoomed image by optically scanning a subset of the document corresponding to the first zoomed image.
