  • Patent number: 5829635
Abstract: A toy water gun comprising a housing, water tank, nozzle, pump assembly, piston drive assembly, and crank handle. The pump assembly comprises (a) first and second cylinders, each cylinder having a first cylinder end with an opening for receiving a piston end and a second cylinder end with an intake port and a discharge port; (b) a piston having a two piston ends, a piston shaft between the two piston ends, and a drive pin on the piston shaft, each piston end inserted into the first open ends of the first and second cylinders, respectively, and being slidable along the longitudinal axes of the cylinders in sealing relation to the cylinder walls; and (c) a device means for filling the two cylinders with water from the water tank and for discharging water from the two cylinders through the nozzle, wherein the filling and discharging device act in cooperation with the slidable movement of the piston ends. The piston drive assembly comprises a cam arm and a coupling wheel.

  • Patent number: 5448984
Abstract: A toy that selectively shoots (1) a compressible ball, (2) a compressible ball and a water spray, (3) a water spray and (4) a water stream comprises a tank adapted to contain air and water under pressure, a pump for pumping air into the tank, a discharge valve having an inlet and an outlet, a water supply conduit leading from the tank to the discharge valve inlet and an air supply conduit leading from the tank to the discharge valve inlet. A cap or other device is provided for selectively opening and closing the air supply conduit so as to permit or prevent, respectively, air from flowing from the tank to the discharge valve. A ball magazine defines an air pressure chamber that receives a compressible ball and has an opening that is smaller than the ball so that the ball is discharged through the opening only when a predetermined force due to air pressure in the chamber is applied to it, whereupon the ball is deformed and is discharged from the magazine.

  • Patent number: 5439139
Abstract: A toy water gun comprises an elongated housing, a water reservoir attached to the housing, and two water pumps received in the housing. Each water pump includes a cylinder having a first end and a second end, a piston movable along the cylinder in sealing relation to the cylinder walls, and a piston rod coupled to the piston and extending out of the first end of the cylinder. An intake conduit for each water pump leads from the water reservoir to the second end of the cylinder and has a one-way intake valve that permits water to be drawn into the cylinder on an intake stroke of the piston. A discharge conduit for each water pump leads from the second end of the cylinder and includes a one-way discharge valve that permits water to be discharged from the cylinder on a delivery stroke of the piston. A nozzle is connected to each discharge conduit.

  • Patent number: 5380231
Abstract: A toy that disassembles upon an impact comprises a body, a plurality of detachable elements, a mount for supporting each detachable element in a predetermined position on the body, and a resilient ejector mechanism engaged between the body and each detachable element and biasing the element in a direction to detach it from the mount. A movable latch member on the body engages each detachable element and retains it on the mount against the bias of the ejector mechanism. A latch release member movably mounted on the body in a position to be moved by engagement with an object releases the latch members from engagement with the detachable elements upon such movement, whereupon the detachable elements are ejected from the mount by the ejector mechanism. The latch release member can be locked against movement, thereby disabling it and permitting the toy to be played with without disassembling.

  • Patent number: 5374213
Abstract: A chassis and drive train for toy vehicles comprises a housing, front and rear axles mounted on the housing for rotation, a drive motor, and an output power transmission coupled between the motor and the first axle for driving the first axle. A coupling transmission connected between the first and second axles for transmitting the rotation of the first axle to the second axle includes a first transmission train driven by the first axle, an idler mounted on the housing and driven by the first transmission train, and a second transmission train driven by the idler and driving the second axle. The transmission trains of the coupling transmission include drive shafts that intersect at an angle of substantially less than 180 degrees. With this geometry, the bottom of the chassis housing can be located well above the base plane defined by the axles, inasmuch as the drive shafts that couple the axles are oblique to each other and the idler is located well above the base plane.

  • Patent number: 5316183
Abstract: A water-shooting toy configured as a bow and arrow comprises a self-contained water pump sub-assembly and a case assembly. The pump sub-assembly includes a cylinder defining a pump chamber, a piston having a rod extending out from a body and a handle that is grasped by a user for manual operation of the pump. A nozzle is joined to the other end of the cylinder and has an opening that forms a stream of water upon operation of the pump. A one-way valve in the discharge passage permits water to flow through the discharge passage only from the pump chamber to the nozzle and prevents induction of air into the pump chamber through the nozzle inlet passage. A water passage into the pump chamber has a one-way inlet valve that admits water to the pump chamber upon the intake stroke of the pump and prevents discharge of water through the inlet passage upon the delivery stroke.

  • Patent number: 5184755
Abstract: A toy water gun has a pump/valve subassembly in which a flange plate is affixed to the outlet end of the cylinder member of an air pump. An integral tubular boss extends from the flange plate externally of the cylinder member outlet, the boss serving as the valve body of a discharge control valve. An annular gasket on the perimeter of the flange plate laterally outwardly of the cylinder member and the valve body forms a seal with the neck of a water reservoir, whereby the air pump outlet to the water reservoir and the inlet to the discharge valve communicate directly with the reservoir. A trigger operates the normally closed discharge control valve, and water under pressure is expelled from the reservoir through a discharge tube and nozzle when the trigger is pulled. A pressure-relief valve on the air pump prevents the pump from pressurizing the air pumped into the reservoir to a pressure above a predetermined value.
