Patent number: 11038867Abstract: A flexible and extensible architecture allows for secure searching across an enterprise. Such an architecture can provide a simple Internet-like search experience to users searching secure content inside (and outside) the enterprise. The architecture allows for the crawling and searching of a variety of sources across an enterprise, regardless of whether any of these sources conform to a conventional user role model. The architecture further allows for security attributes to be received at query time, for example, in order to provide real-time secure access to enterprise resources. The user query also can be transformed to provide for dynamic querying that provides for a more current result list than can be obtained for static queries.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2019Date of Patent: June 15, 2021Assignee: ORACLE INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONInventors: Muralidhar Krishnaprasad, Mark Davis, Mark Ture, Cindy Hsin, Meeten Bhavsar, Hiroshi Koide, Joaquin Delgado, Chi-Ming Yang, Visar Nimani, Hui Ouyang, Sachin Bhatkar, Thomas Chang

Patent number: 7512599Abstract: A request to execute a query is received in a database system. In response, the database system determines that a collection of data elements to be returned by the query corresponds to a first data structure not defined within a type dictionary of the database system. The database system obtains attribute values that describe respective data fields within the first data structure, and records, within the type dictionary, a first data type definition that specifies the data fields described by the attribute values.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2004Date of Patent: March 31, 2009Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Qin Yu, Adiel M. Patent number: 7386567Abstract: Techniques are provided for changing data for an XML construct in an SQL/XML compliant database management system (DBMS). The DBMS allows instances of XML type to represent XML constructs, such as XML documents, XML elements, XML attributes, and fragments of XML documents. An SQL statement is received that includes an XML operator that operates on a particular component in an instance of XML type. During execution of the SQL statement, the XML operator is evaluated by modifying content for the component without modifying the entire instance. For example, an XML delete operator deletes the particular component from the instance. Other XML operators include an insert operator, an insert-before operator, an append-child operator, and an update operator. During execution, these operators may be rewritten to operate on existing SQL constructs, or evaluated by updating only some of the existing SQL constructs, or both.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2004Date of Patent: June 10, 2008Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Anand Manikutty, Muralidhar Krishnaprasad, Ravi Murthy, Visar Nimani, James Warner, Eric Sedlar, Neema Jalali, Bhushan Khaladkar
