  • Patent number: 11071001
Abstract: An apparatus, computer program product, and method relating to radio sensor coverage estimation for wireless network assurance. A network controller estimates a network sensor coverage level for candidate access points (APs), based on potential use of the candidate APs as network sensors to measure at least one key performance indicator (KPI). The controller determines a subset of the candidate APs, based on evaluating candidate APs for suitability as network sensors. The controller estimates a second network sensor coverage level for the subset of candidate APs, based on potential use of the subset of candidate APs as network sensors. The controller determines that the second network sensor coverage level is within a pre-defined threshold of the first network sensor coverage level, and provisions a radio in each AP in the subset of candidate APs as a network sensor to measure at least one KPI.

  • Publication number: 20210211921
Abstract: Techniques for automated network adjustment are provided. A first data rate currently supported by a first access point is determined, and a second data rate is identified to be evaluated. A first sensor device of a plurality of sensor devices is identified, where a signal strength between the first sensor device and the first access point exceeds a predefined threshold. A first packet error rate is determined for communications between the first sensor device and the first access point using the first data rate, and a second packet error rate is determined for communications between the first sensor device and the first access point using the second data rate. Upon determining that the second packet error rate is lower than the first packet error rate, the first access point is automatically reconfigured to use the second data rate.

  • Patent number: 11044160
Abstract: Techniques for policy exchange are provided. A wireless local area network (WLAN) system configures a first policy to apply to devices connecting to the WLAN system, where the first policy is associated with a first event context. The WLAN system then transmits, to a cellular system, the first event context and an indication of the first policy. The WLAN system further receives a first connection from a first user equipment (UE). Finally, The WLAN system transmits a first response to the first UE specifying the first event context, where the cellular system, upon receiving the first event context from the first UE, identifies and applies the first policy based on the first event context.

  • Publication number: 20210160198
Abstract: Embodiments herein describe a group of APs that uses a shared radar cache to select a new channel after vacating a current channel when performing dynamic frequency selection (DFS). The group of APs can set aside memory to store status information about the DFS channels in the frequency band. For example, when one AP detects a radar event (and has to vacate a DFS channel), the AP updates an entry for that channel in the shared radar cache. The APs can also query the cache to determine a new channel after vacating its current channel. That is, the shared radar cache may store the most recent radar events occurring in a channel. In this manner, the APs can select a new channel that has little or no recent radar events, which reduces the likelihood the AP will have to vacate the new channel.

  • Publication number: 20210144565
Abstract: Aspects described herein include an exclusionary approach for basic service set (BSS) color selection and assignment in a network. A network controller for a network selects a radio associated with an access point (AP) under management of the network controller and determines a potential set of BSS colors for the radio. The network controller then removes/excludes a set of BSS colors that impacts the radio from the potential set of BSS colors and updates or assigns a BSS color for the selected radio using the potential set of BSS colors, minimizing the chances that the assigned BSS color will cause an overlapping BSS color condition in the network.

  • Patent number: 11006430
Abstract: Techniques for a machine learning event-driven radio resource management (ED-RRM) module which provides analysis of interference events in a network system are described. The network system reacts to the detection of interference in a network system and uses multiple input parameters to determine a type of device creating the interference, a predicted duration of the interference, and an ED-RRM decision on whether to activate the radio resource management (RRM) processes to alter the network transmission or block the RRM processes to conserve system resources for the network system.

  • Publication number: 20210112472
Abstract: Handoff assistance across multiple radio access technologies can be provided by identifying a first Qualitative Level of Service (QLoS) of a first network that a User Equipment (UE) is connected to for data transmission; identifying a second QLoS of a second network that the UE is not connected to for data transmission; and in response to determining that a difference between the first QLoS and the second QLoS satisfies a handoff threshold, requesting a first access point in the first network to initiate handoff of the UE to a second access point in the second network or recommending from the first access point to the UE to request such a handoff, wherein handoff disconnects the UE from the first network for data transmission and connects the UE to the second network for data transmission.

  • Patent number: 10945231
Abstract: Techniques for improved wireless ranging are provided. A first communication from a first device is received at a first access point. A predefined minimum distance is determined for the first access point, where the predefined minimum distance corresponds to a distance at which the vertical location of the first access point causes inaccurate location estimations. A first distance of the first device from the first access point is estimated. Upon determining that the first distance of the first device is below the predefined minimum distance, fine timing measurement (FTM) requests from the first device are declined.

  • Publication number: 20210040775
Abstract: An exemplary method generally relates to operating an access control device including a motor, a locking member, and a target component operably connected with the locking member. The motor may be operated to drive the locking member in a first direction from an initial position toward a desired position. When the locking member is blocked from moving beyond a blockage position, a target location of the target component is detected. The motor may then be operated to drive the locking member in a second direction opposite the first direction. The motor may then be operated to drive the locking member in the first direction toward the blockage position while monitoring the location of the target component. As the target component reaches the target location, the motor is supplied with a boost current to drive the locking member beyond the blockage position and toward the desired position.
