  • Publication number: 20200229086
Abstract: In one embodiment, a first wireless access point (AP) of a first basic service set (BSS) receives, from a second wireless AP of a second BSS, data indicative of an 802.11-based target wake time (TWT) schedule of a client of the second BSS. The first wireless AP identifies, from the receive data, a scheduled communication time of the client of the second BSS in the TWT schedule. The first wireless AP generates an 802.11-based TWT schedule for a client of the first BSS that avoids the scheduled communication time of the client of the second BSS. The first wireless AP sends the generated 802.11-based TWT schedule to the client of the first BSS, wherein the sent TWT schedule causes the client of the first BSS to wake from sleep at a scheduled wake time.

  • Patent number: 10716075
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to the use of active feedback from client devices to limit/regulate transmission power control of access points from the perspective of the client device. The instant transmission power control beneficially ensures that clients located at a cell edge still receive sufficient coverage from access points and have sufficient overlap with adjacent cells for seamless roaming for the wireless stations while minimizing co-channel interference. In some embodiments, the present disclosure beneficially leverages 802.11h TPC Constraint to dynamically report client's view of the RF environment and cell size estimation.

  • Patent number: 10541778
Abstract: An access point in a wireless network communicates wirelessly with one or more client devices over a channel that includes a plurality of subchannels. Each subchannel corresponds to a distinct frequency chunk with a respective plurality of subcarriers. Radar is detected on a first subchannel. In response, a selection is made between (i) redefining the channel and (ii) puncturing the first subchannel while continuing to use all other subchannels. Puncturing the first subchannel includes muting subcarriers on the first subchannel. Redefining the channel includes removing multiple subchannels from the channel. The selection is based at least in part on one or more factors that provide indications as to whether puncturing would be efficient and/or effective. The access point continues to communicate wirelessly with the one or more client devices in accordance with the selection.

  • Patent number: 10433189
Abstract: A flexible radio assignment algorithm that reduces co-channel interference in Wi-Fi networks is disclosed. The flexible radio assignment algorithm calculates a density value for each of the APs controlled by a network controller. The flexible radio assignment algorithm selects an AP with the highest density value and determines that a radio in the selected AP is redundant. The flexible radio assignment algorithm manages the redundant radio in the selected AP to mitigate co-channel interference in a frequency band.

  • Publication number: 20190246324
Abstract: In one embodiment, a service receives radar data regarding usage of one or more wireless channels by a radar. The service populates a database of radar features with the received radar data. The service trains, using the database of radar features, a machine learning-based model to predict channel usages by the radar. The service causes a wireless access point to change to a different wireless channel, based on the predicted channel usages by the radar.

  • Patent number: 10237756
Abstract: In one embodiment, a neighbor access point list is obtained. Statistics are maintained for a current access point that a client is currently associated with, including previous access points previous clients have roamed from prior to associating with the current access point, and next access points the previous clients associated with. The neighbor access point list for the client is optimized, by determining one or more previous clients that associated with a same previous access point as the client and prioritizing access points in the optimized neighbor access point list, based on the next access points the one or more previous clients associated with. The optimized neighbor access point list is sent to the client.

  • Publication number: 20180376459
Abstract: Embodiments herein describe using a dual assess point (AP) to establish two access points that both are established by two individual radios (e.g., two 5 GHz radios). Generally, APs experience highly degraded performance when two co-located radios operate within the same band. In one embodiment, AP devices can deploy same band radios using a macro-micro cell approach. Thus, the AP may intelligently hand off client devices between the micro and macro cell in a way that optimizes the system for overall throughput and low packet latency while creating minimal oscillation of clients between cells. The embodiments in this disclosure disclose techniques that direct clients in a manner that optimizes these factors.

  • Patent number: 9253693
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a neighbor radio/access point (AP) list is obtained. The neighbor AP list is optimized for a client that is associated with a current access point. The list may be optimized based on any one or combination of techniques, including but not limited to roaming patterns of previous clients that were associated with the current access point, radio frequency metrics, bandwidth requirements for the client, and/or any other suitable criteria. In particular embodiments, requests from the client to associate with an access point that is not on the optimized neighbor AP list may be denied.
