  • Publication number: 20230183075
Abstract: Compositions and methods directed to the synthesis and use of silicon carbide with, biomedical applications is provided. The method of synthesis includes providing a polydimethysiloxane (PDM'S) substrate, and irradiating at least a portion of the substrate with a laser under conditions sufficient to produce silicon carbide comprising 3C silicon carbide (3C-SiE). The composition can be used to modulate biological activity through electrical, chemical and heat stimuli.

  • Publication number: 20230034352
Abstract: Mechanisms for providing environment information to a visually impaired person (VIP) are provided, the mechanisms including: receiving information relating to a direction from a VIP when in an environment using at least one hardware processor; identifying at least one object in the direction from the VIP when in the environment; and providing environment information regarding at least one object to the VIP. In some of these embodiments, the environment is a virtual environment. In some of these embodiments, the information relating to the direction is a bearing relative to a reference from the VIP. In some of these embodiments, the information is image data. In some of these embodiments, the method further comprises: determining that the direction has changed; and stopping providing the environment information in response to determining that the direction has changed.

  • Patent number: 11317831
Abstract: A wearable patient monitoring device in a patient monitoring system includes motion sensors generating sensor output signals in response to sensed patient motion, and a processor that processes the sensor output signals according to a template-matching monitoring process that includes (1) detecting occurrence of a first event of a multi-event movement based on first values of the sensor output signals, the multi-event movement having a finite-state-machine (FSM) representation as a sequence of states corresponding to events and expected values of the sensor output signals of the multi-event movement, (2) detecting occurrence of remaining events of the multi-event movement based on a sequence of subsequent values of the sensor output signals, and (3) upon detecting a last event of the multi-event movement, generating an output signal indicating detection of the patient performing the multi-event movement.
