  • Publication number: 20100236355
Abstract: The invention describes a variable eccentricity assembly, in which the overall eccentricity of the assembly can be changed while continuing rotation of the assembly. Two types of assemblies to change the eccentricity of the assembly are described. In one type multiple eccentric parts are arranged in series, and a relative rotation between them varies the eccentricity of the assembly and in second type a disc is moved in a direction normal to the shaft to vary the overall eccentricity of the assembly. The variable eccentricity assembly can be used in eccentric gearbox, eccentric gear drives, eccentric clutches and in other various-applications. It can also be used in many applications to compensate wear and tear. Use of variable eccentricity assembly can also save maintenance efforts in some applications.

  • Publication number: 20100229665
Abstract: The invention deals with an eccentric gearbox with selectable, large speed ratio. A gearbox that consists of multiple eccentric gear pairs (12, 13 and 14,15), an eccentric gear pair is engaged between input (22) and output shafts (24) as to get corresponding speed ratio between the two shafts. In present invention, mechanisms are developed to disengage gears belonging to an eccentric gear pair that is not engaged between input (22) and output shafts (24) as to reduce wear and tear of the gears. In one approach variable eccentricity assemblies (16, 17) can make unengaged fixed gears (12, 14) stationary as to reduce energy consumption and vibrations also. In another approach, movement of revolving gears (13, 15) along output shaft axis (24) can engage or disengage gears of an eccentric gear pair (12,13 and 14, 15) as per the requirement.

  • Publication number: 20100132659
Abstract: In a revolving piston device that is used to make a four stroke internal combustion engine, revolving piston pairs (22, 23, 24, 25) are made to complete two cycles of one compression phase and one expansion phase each. The openings (2-7, 10-17, 34-36) on components of revolving piston device are made in such a way that an opening can be used for multiple flow passages to reduce unutilised space within controlled active volume that reduces unutilised expansion of gases or air within controlled active volume during respective power stroke. This also reduces loss of fresh gases trapped within the openings to exhaust manifold. This invention describes how to use same opening on various components of a revolving piston device for multiple flow passages to reduce overall losses.

  • Publication number: 20100000492
Abstract: In a revolving piston device the revolving assemblies are made to complete one or more revolutions for every revolution of the elliptical gears. Port operating ring is used to open the intake passage for the travel of piston pair from TDC to BDC in one revolution of the elliptical gears and to open exhaust passage for the travel of piston pair from BDC to TDC during the next revolution of the elliptical gears. Lower speed of the revolving components induces less vibrations thus gives quite operation. Lower speeds of the elliptical gears allow higher speed of operation for revolving piston device. These types of engines can be used in automobiles, aero industries, marine ships, battlefield tanks, power generation and many other applications. The same concept can also be used to develop a revolving piston compressor or a revolving piston steam engine or a revolving piston two stroke internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 7357746
Abstract: An eccentric gearbox with selectable large speed ratio, in this gearbox many eccentric gear (8, 12, 16) pairs are assembled in parallel, and are connected to a common input shaft (1) and a common output shaft (2). In every gear pair (8, 12, 16), one gear keeps its orientation fixed with respect to a fixed part called as fixed gear (8, 12, 16) and another gear that rotates about its own axis is called as moving gear (7, 11, 15). Difference in number of teeth on the two gears of a gear pair is kept to one tooth or more. Through proper selection of a particular gear pair any speed ratio can be selected. In this way, it is possible to make a compact gearbox, with multiple large speed ratios. Such a gear box can be used in automobiles, robot manipulators, earth moving equipments, space applications, toys, hand held tools and many other applications.
