Patent number: 10666516Abstract: A network function virtualization (NFV) orchestration manager utilizes characteristics of the particular host, such as the platform itself, the hypervisor and the network interface to determine virtual network function (VNF) deployment. Exemplary platform characteristics are latency, throughput, scalability and migration. Factors are developed for each characteristic to provide positive or negative values used in the determination so that each host receives values for each characteristic. Each VNF is associated with desirable characteristics. When a VNF is to be deployed, the NVF orchestration manager determines the host factors relevant to the VNF. After analyzing the hosts and comparing them to the VNF requirements, a host choice is determined and the VNF is deployed to that host, with a virtual machine (VM) being created if needed. In a similar manner, VNFs can be chosen for inclusion in a service function chain (SFC).Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2016Date of Patent: May 26, 2020Assignee: AVAGO TECHNOLOGIES INTERNATIONAL SALES PTE. LIMITEDInventors: Vishwanath Jayaraman, Thomas D. Nadeau

Patent number: 10148821Abstract: A method schedules a conference call via a scheduler application on a first information handling system by recording a date, a start time, and an end time and setting invitees for the call. The method further receives bound identification data from an invitee, associates the bound identification data with the scheduled conference call, and stores the bound identification data in a database to enable minimal touch access to the conference call.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2012Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: Dell Products, LPInventors: Robert A. Patent number: 8959375Abstract: A system and method for power management of storage resources are disclosed. A method may include detecting an occurrence of an event associated with a storage resource disposed in an array of storage resources. The method may further include transitioning the storage resource into a specified power state in response to the detection of the occurrence of the event. A system may include a storage resource and a power management module communicatively coupled to the storage resource. The storage resource may be disposed in an array of storage resources. The power management module may be operable to detect an occurrence of an event associated with the storage resource, and may be operable to transition the storage resource into a specified power state in response to the detection of the occurrence of the event.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2014Date of Patent: February 17, 2015Assignee: Dell Products L.P.Inventors: Christiaan Wenzel, Radhakrishna Dasari, Vishwanath Jayaraman, Jianwen Yin

Patent number: 8103698Abstract: A computer implemented method is disclosed including receiving a client request from a client within an object-oriented model and intercepting said client request with a client abstraction layer able to communicate with said client and a management layer database. The method further includes generating with said client abstraction layer a request for information from said management layer database, wherein said database comprises information describing each managed object of said object-oriented model. An information handling system is further disclosed including a processor and memory accessible by the processor. The system further includes instructions stored on the memory that when carried out cause the system to initialize a discovery process identifying each managed object of the information handling system.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2007Date of Patent: January 24, 2012Inventors: Jianwen Yin, Jody Buchanan, Vishwanath Jayaraman
