Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for providing a media guidance application that resizes content based on a relative importance of the content. For example, a display may have first and second content generated for display. If the first content is more important to a user than the second content, a size of the first content will be increased with respect to a size of the second content on the display. If the second content is more important to the user than the first content, then a size of the second content will be increased with respect to a size of the first content on the display.

Abstract: Presentation of content on a display device is adaptively modified based on the apparent size of a content area in which the content is presented. A distance between the first user and the display device is determined, as well as an actual size of the content area in which the content is being presented. Based on the distance and the actual size of the content area, an apparent size of the content area is calculated, and presentation of the content is modified based on the apparent size of the content area.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented herein for selectively preventing display of brand and business identifiers in content that is considered offensive, objectionable, disturbing, and/or unsettling, to prevent an unintended association by viewers of the content between the content and the brand or business. A request to display media content, comprising at least one frame with objectionable subject matter, is received. In response to determining the at least one frame comprises objectionable subject matter, a determination is made as to whether an entity identifier is visible in the at least one frame. In response to determining at least one entity identifier is visible in the at least one frame, a first context of the objectionable subject matter and a second context of the entity identifier are determined. The first context is compared to the second context and, based on the comparing, a masking action is determined to be required for the entity identifier.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for generating for display identified supplemental content relevant to metadata of a particular scene of a media asset. The systems and methods may identify metadata of the media asset corresponding to the time of the particular scene, identify supplemental content relevant to the metadata of the particular scene, and determine the particular scene of the media asset has concluded. In response to determining the particular scene of the media asset has concluded, the identified supplemental content relevant to the metadata of the particular scene may be generated for display.

Abstract: Improved content recommendations are generated based on a knowledge graph of a content item, which is based on an attribute of the content item, metadata regarding the content item, a viewing history, and user preferences determined by analysis and selected by a user. An option for selecting attributes of interest from a plurality of attributes is generated for display. A content recommendation based on the selected attributes is generated and displayed in a user interface, which changes as user preference selections change. As a result, a user quickly identifies and consumes a customized list of content items related to the user's favorite actor, character, title, depicted object, depicted setting, actual setting, type of action, type of interaction, genre, release date, release decade, director, MPAA rating, critical rating, plot origin point, plot end point, and the like. Abstract: Systems and methods for providing fast forwarding recommendations based on the user's consumption history are disclosed. The consumption history includes data relating to attributes that were previously rewinded and watched and those that were skipped and forwarded. It also includes scores for attributes that were present and absent in a portion that was previously rewinded or forwarded. A score is assigned to the attributes and used for determining a consumption pattern. If the consumption pattern indicates that the user previously rewinded and watched the attribute, then a recommendation not to skip an upcoming portion that includes the attribute is provided. A graphical timeline that depicts the amount of time saved by skipping the portion of the media asset with the attribute is also provided.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented herein for modifying messages transmitted between a first computing device and a second computing device based on the determination of a context of messages transmitted between the first and second computing devices. A first message, prepared to be transmitted to a second computing device, is prepared at a first computing device. Based on an identifier corresponding to the second computing device, a plurality of devices communicably coupled to the second computing device are determined. Selectable options are generated at the first computing device which, when selected, determine which of the second computing device or one of the plurality of communicably coupled devices will receive the transmitted message. Based on the selection of an option, the message may be modified to fit the format of the device corresponding to the selected option and transmitted to the device corresponding to the selected option.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for modifying content recommendations based on what content items will be available on content platforms to which the user will have access during a trip. Content items to be recommended to the user on a first content platform are identified by comparing characteristics of each available content item to a profile associated with the user. A second content platform to which the user will have access during a particular time period in the near future is also identified. The second content platform is queried to identify content items that will be available during the particular time period. If any content item available on the second content platform during the particular time period also appears in the set of content items identified for recommendation, recommendation of that content item is suppressed.

Abstract: There is provided systems and methods for a bidding process between over-the-top, OTT, platforms. The method comprises downloading media content items from a plurality of OTT platforms, detecting a loading event on a first OTT platform, transmitting an available advertisement slot to the plurality of OTT platforms, receiving bid offers to display the downloaded media content items to a user, and displaying a first media content item with the highest bid during the loading event on the first OTT platform.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for predicting a future topic of a current conversation and providing content associated with the predicted topic. A topic may be predicted based on a first part of a current conversation between a first user and a second user and information about the first user and the second user. Content associated with the predicted topic may be identified, and information about the identified content may be provided to a device associated with the first user or the second user.

Abstract: Systems and methods for supplementing digital assistant queries and filtering results are disclosed. The methods activate a camera in response to detecting a voice query of a user. The camera captures, in multiple modes, video frames of a user's gestures and/or facial expressions made during utterance of the query and/or the user's environment and/or specific features in the environment present or occurring during utterance of the query. A portion of the query is classified as ambiguous and supplemental data relating to the voice query is requested to resolve the ambiguous portion. Supplemental data may comprise metadata associated with the gestures or facial expressions and/or specific features, actions, or activities during issuance of the query that are extracted from the captured frames. The supplemental data is processed to resolve the ambiguous portions of the query, and the digital assistant responds accordingly to the disambiguated query.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating a content item recommendation based on an identified posture. An input associated with a content item delivery service is received at a computing device. A capture of a user is received, and a digital representation of the user is generated based on the capture of the user. A posture of the user is determined based on the digital representation of the user, and a content item genre is identified based on the determined posture. A content item recommendation that is based on the identified genre is generated and output.

Abstract: Systems and methods for enhancing user experience in accessing media of a certain content type by outputting the media on a nearby device that is better suited for access. For example, a media guidance application may determine that a user is accessing, on his/her smartphone, a digital page (e.g., a website, a newsfeed, etc.) that features embedded content (e.g., photos, movies, music, etc.). In response to determining that the user has navigated to an embedded content, such as a video clip, the media guidance application may determine a device in the vicinity of the user that is better suited than the user's smartphone for playback of the video clip. For example, a nearby smart television may have a larger screen, better sound output, and a better display resolution than the smartphone. As a result, the media guidance application may cause the smart television to output the video clip.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to address shortcomings in the conventional network storage systems via novel techniques to store offsets of a recorded program in a network digital video recorder (DVR). Storing offsets of a recorded program may be beneficial to users that would like to record media content that is broadcast either prior to a start time of a program, or media content that is broadcast after an end time of a program. This feature may be useful when start times and end times of a program are variable (e.g., in the case of sporting events, or other real-time events). This feature may also be useful for recording content of interest that is scheduled for broadcast prior to a start time of or after an end time of the program.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for recommending content based on a mood score associated with a user profile. The system accesses the viewing history of the user profile to determine media assets consumed and the mood score associated with each of the consumed media assets of the plurality of media assets. A cumulative mood score is calculated based at least in part to determine if the total score is below a mood threshold. Based on the cumulative mood score being lower than the mood threshold, the system generates for presentation, on the consumer device, one or more media assets with a positive mood score.

Abstract: Systems and associated methods are described for providing media content. The system retrieves from memory a media consumption pattern profile, which includes first and second media characteristics associated as a pattern of media consumption and a time duration indicating how long a first media content item having the first media characteristic was output by a user device before the user device changed to outputting a second media content item having the second media characteristic. The system outputs a media content item onto the user device. In response to detecting the media content item has the first media characteristic and has been output for the time duration, the system outputs a third media content item having the first and second media characteristics onto the user device and after outputting the third media content item, outputs a fourth media content item having the second media characteristic onto the user device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for recommending a media asset relating to a character unknown to a user are provided herein. The systems and methods may receive a first media asset viewed by a user, determine a first character in the first media asset, and include the first character in the character viewing profile for the user. Further, the systems and methods may receive a second media asset, including the first character, determine that a second character appears in the second media asset, and determine that the second character is not in the character viewing profile. The systems and methods may recommend a third media asset to the user for the second character.

Abstract: Systems and methods for creating, monitoring, and managing a breakout conference for a conference call are disclosed. The methods determine topics for breakout rooms and their complexity scores. A breakout room is created for the topics, including separate breakout rooms for complex topics. An expertise score based on a plurality of factors for each device associated with a participant is also calculated. Devices are assigned to separate breakout rooms based on either just the expertise score or if the expertise score meets the threshold of the complexity score. Performance within the breakout rooms is displayed in real-time, such as in a graph. A moderator schedule is generated based the performance within the breakout rooms, where priority is given to a breakout room that has a negative performance over a breakout room with a positive performance.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for handling interruptions during a digital assistant session between a user and a digital assistant by detecting if an interruption event is to occur during the digital assistant session. In response to detecting that the interruption event is to occur, an operation that addresses the interruption event may be caused to be performed.
