  • Patent number: 6065495
Abstract: A two-position, three-way solenoid-actuated valve includes a valve assembly having an axial opening and a valve member fixed in the axial opening with a first valve seat and a second valve seat disposed in the axial opening. The valve assembly including a ball disposed in the axial opening and moveable between the first valve seat and the second valve seat. The two-position, three-way solenoid-actuated valve also includes an electromagnetic coil assembly engaging the valve assembly to move the ball between the first valve seat and the second valve seat to open and close a fluid path through the valve assembly to provide directional flow control.

  • Patent number: 5894860
Abstract: A proportional pressure control solenoid valve includes a valve spool with dual feedback pins slidable relative to the spool within a common bore of the spool as the spool moves. The feedback pins have unequal cross sectional areas defining an operative feedback area and enabling minimization of the valve's size in a cost efficient manner. To control output pressure as a function of control current, an electro-magnetically generated force initiates modulation of the valve with assistance from a hydraulic feedback force and in opposition to the force of modulating spring.

  • Patent number: 5845672
Abstract: A solenoid actuated valve includes a first subassembly that carries a coil having its terminal pins attached to a structure such as a circuit board or lead frame. A second subassembly is provided for mating with the first subassembly and carries the valve body. The first subassembly has a solenoid spool including the coil, and a case surrounding the spool. An end plate is suitably locked to the case. A bias spring is provided between the spool and the end of the case. The spool assembly is designed to be freely floating both radially and axially within the coil case and end plate, as restricted by the bias spring. This permits proper location of the coil case to the hydraulic valve body assembly.

  • Patent number: 5667285
Abstract: A pressure control solenoid based vehicle braking system utilizes intensifiers to permit the hydraulic control components to operate at lower pressures. A method of selectively locking the intensifiers in position is provided. Unique pressure regulators provide predictable control of load pressure and are isolated in the system by a combination of enable valves and the locking method.

  • Patent number: 5603483
Abstract: A normally open solenoid valve is provided for brake system operation which includes a poppet utilizing a spherical end in conjunction with a valve seat to provide the primary control orifice of the valve. A sleeve is inserted into the main body of the valve with an annular edge provided on the poppet near the spherical end which operates in conjunction with the sleeve to provide a secondary control orifice downstream of the primary control orifice.

  • Patent number: 5571248
Abstract: A pressure regulator in the form of a proportional pressure control solenoid provides predictable and repeatable control of pressure in response to an electrical input signal. The pressure regulator converts the electrical control signal to an output pressure at the load independent of the flow requirements. The electromagnetic portion of the pressure regulator generates a force proportional to the average current supplied by a controller and applies that force to the hydraulic components of the device. The hydraulic components include a spool and a feedback pin which apply a pressure feedback force to the solenoid.

  • Patent number: 5467797
Abstract: A solenoid valve is provided which achieves the function of a two-position, three-way directional control valve and functions at high pressures with low leakage rates. In addition, the valve provides a cost effective and simplified configuration to additionally achieve the functions of a free-flowing forward check valve and a high pressure relief valve integrated with the directional control valve. The invention is directed towards providing a valve with low cost and a minimum penalty with regards to electrical power consumption.
