Abstract: A device for spinal implant removal includes a driver tool and a capture tool. The driver tool includes an elongated cylindrical body with a through-opening and two distal end protrusions. The capture tool includes an elongated shaft configured to fit and extend through the cylindrical body through-opening of the driver tool and has a distal end opening with inner threads. The spinal implant includes a cylindrical body and first and second sets of wings that are configured to engage first and second spinous processes of two vertebrae, respectively. The cylindrical body houses a threaded post that actuates the deployment of the first and second sets of wings. • Publication number: 20260013909
Abstract: An awl-tap-dilator tool used in a single step surgical technique, includes an elongated shaft having a beveled tip at a distal end, a drill-tap section adjacent to the beveled tip, and a dilator section adjacent to the drill-tap section. The beveled tip is used for piercing a bone and locate an appropriate trajectory under fluoroscopy. The drill-tap section is used for drilling and tapping the bone in order to form a bone opening. The dilator section surrounds the elongated shaft, has a larger diameter than the elongated shaft, and is used for dilating tissue around and above the bone opening.

  • Publication number: 20260007458
Abstract: A method for removing a basivertebral nerve (BVN), includes the following sequential steps. First, inserting a bone needle into a vertebral body of a vertebra and advancing the bone needle under fluoroscopy to a BVN base site. The bone needle includes an elongated shaft having a cannula extending from a proximal end to a distal end of the shaft, and a removable bevel tipped inner stylet extending through the cannula. Next, removing the inner stylet from the cannula and inserting a drill/awl through the cannula into the BVN base site and once the drill/awl position and depth is confirmed via fluoroscopy drilling the BVN base out. Next, removing the drill/awl from the cannula and inserting a cup curette through the cannula into the BVN base site to further resect under fluoroscopy the BVN base. Next, removing the cup curette from the cannula and inserting a pituitary rongeur through the cannula into the BVN base site and removing under fluoroscopy all resected portions of the BVN base.

  • Publication number: 20230248339
Abstract: A surgical device includes an inner stylet component and an outer stylet component. The inner stylet component includes a first handle and an elongated rod having a proximal end attached to a bottom surface of the first handle and a distal end comprising a needle tip. The outer stylet component includes a second handle and an elongated cannula having a proximal end attached to a bottom surface of the second handle and a distal open end comprising cutting elements formed on an outer surface. The elongated rod is sized to removably fit and slide within the elongated cannula, and the first handle is configured to interlock with the second handle. Rotating the interlocked first and second handles moves forward the elongated cannula and the needle tip and cuts a profile in an insertion site with the cutting elements of the outer cannula.

Abstract: A method for inserting an interspinous spinal implant into an opened gap between first and second spinous processes of adjacent superior and inferior vertebras, respectively includes the following. First forming an opened gap between a first spinous processes of a superior vertebra and a second spinous processes of an adjacent inferior vertebra by first inserting a decompression knife into diseased areas of the adjacent superior and inferior vertebras, then cutting fascia tissue, then separating soft tissue from bone by rocking the decompression knife back and forth, and then inserting a broach cutter into the diseased areas of the adjacent superior and inferior vertebras and cutting interspinous ligament between the adjacent superior and inferior vertebras. Next, determining and selecting an appropriate sized and shaped interspinous spinal implant for the opened gap by inserting a sizing tool into the opened gap, and sizing the opened gap with the sizing tool.
