  • Publication number: 20240117849
Abstract: A disc brake for railway vehicles comprising a pad and a disc on which the pad acts. The pad comprises a base plate and a plurality of friction elements fixed to the base plate. The friction elements comprise first friction elements made with a first friction material and second friction elements made with a second friction material. The first friction material has a compressibility modulus greater than that of the second friction material by a value greater than or equal to 1 MPa. The first friction elements are in a higher number than the second friction elements. A respective elastic element is interposed between each of the first friction elements and the base plate, whereas a respective rigid spacer is interposed between each of at least part of the second friction elements and the base plate.

  • Publication number: 20230349437
Abstract: A block for wheel brakes comprising a friction portion, in which a friction surface is defined, which, in use, acts upon a peripheral surface of a wheel in order to carry out the braking action, a support plate, which is fixed, in an irreversible manner, to a surface of the friction portion opposite the friction surface, and a base plate, which is fixed to the support plate and comprises a coupling element to fix the block as a whole to a brake system. The block comprises at least one elastic element placed between the support plate and the base plate. The presence of the elastic element creates a ventilation air space between the support plate and the base plate.

  • Publication number: 20220170523
Abstract: A disc brake for railway vehicles comprising a pad and a disk on which the pad acts is provided. The pad comprises a base plate and a plurality of friction elements fixed to the base plate. The friction elements comprise first friction elements made of a first material and second friction elements made of a second material. • Patent number: 11248670
Abstract: A pad for disc brakes for railway vehicles is provided. The pad includes a base plate and friction elements fixed to the plate and arranged in at least two arcuate rows. Each row has friction elements with one same friction surface and a total friction surface ranging from 40% to 80% of the total friction surface of the friction elements of a neighboring external row. Each friction element of at least one neighboring internal row has a friction surface that is less than the friction surface of each friction element of the neighboring external row. The friction elements of each row are arranged on the base plate to act on a surface portion of a brake disc, which partially overlaps surface portions of the disc on which friction elements of a neighboring external row and friction elements of a neighboring internal row act.

Each row has friction elements with one same friction surface and a total friction surface ranging from 40% to 80% of the total friction surface of friction elements of an immediately following more external row. • Publication number: 20140360823
Abstract: A railway vehicle disk brake pad having a base plate; a number of supporting plates fitted to the base plate; and a number of friction members fixed to the supporting plates. The base plate has a number of perforated drawing portions, each of which has a projection on which a respective supporting plate rests directly, thus forming a gap between the base plate and the supporting plate.

  • Patent number: 8544617
Abstract: A railroad and industrial vehicle disk brake pad having a supporting plate and a number of friction members. Each friction member is elongated in shape, with two curved parallel long sides, and is fixed to the supporting plate so that the curves of the long sides form a substantially 0° angle with respective concentric circles of a disk to which the pad fitted. To prevent displacement of the friction members, these are fixed to the supporting plate with the interposition of antirotation means.

  • Patent number: 7648007
Abstract: A disc brake pad (1) comprising a base plate (2), on which elongated elements for supporting friction elements (3) are fixed. The friction elements (3) are mounted, alone or in groups, on the ends of elastic support elements (4), the support elements (4) being cantilevered on the base plate (2) to provide projecting and freely movable ends which support the friction elements (3). The support elements (4) are placed on the base plate (2) with their main longitudinal axis oriented substantially perpendicular with respect to a ray passing through the centre of the brake disc. The disc brake pad centre coincides with rotary axis of the wheel or other rotating element to be braked. The circular portion or band of the element on which each friction element acts is as narrow as possible, thereby minimizing the peripheral speed difference between inner circumference and outer circumference of the annular bands engaged by the friction elements.
