  • Publication number: 20190390127
Abstract: A light fraction fuel composition for compression-ignited engines comprises about 25 v/v % to about 50 v/v % commercial diesel fuel; about 40 v/v % to about 69 v/v % straight run heavy naphtha about 5 v/v % to about 10 v/v % n-butanol; and about 0.2 v/v % to about 1.7 v/v % 2-Ethylhexyl nitrate. The relative percentages of commercial diesel fuel and straight run heavy naphtha are controlled to obtain a cetane number of at least 51 for a selected engine.

  • Patent number: 9604527
Abstract: A hybrid powertrain for powering a vehicle includes a micro turbine assembly with multi-fuel capabilities and a turbine drive shaft extending therefrom. The turbine drive shaft has a turbine engaged position where a turbine rotational output of the micro turbine assembly is transferred by the turbine drive shaft to wheels of the vehicle, and a turbine unengaged position where the turbine rotational output is independent from the wheels. A generator is selectively connected to the micro turbine assembly in parallel with a portion of the turbine drive shaft. A power storage device is chargeable by the generator and can drive an electric motor. A motor drive shaft has a motor engaged position where a motor rotational output of the electric motor is transferred by the motor drive shaft to the wheels, and a motor unengaged position where the motor rotational output is independent from the wheels.

  • Publication number: 20150267630
Abstract: An arrangement in a vehicle engine includes an intake air manifold, an exhaust gas manifold and a plurality of cylinders, and is adapted for being operated by a dual fuel including diesel and gas fuel. The arrangement further includes an exhaust gas recirculation line connecting the exhaust gas manifold with the intake, air manifold, an exhaust gas recirculation valve arranged in the exhaust gas recirculation line, and a control unit arranged for controlling the operation of the exhaust gas recirculation valve. The arrangement further includes a knock sensor arranged on the engine and connected to the control unit; the control unit being adapted for opening the exhaust gas recirculation valve in the event that knock is detected by the knock sensor. The arrangement can permit a dual fuel engine to be used with methane gas having a wide variety of methane numbers without causing the engine to knock.
