  • Publication number: 20240073772
Abstract: A service device (e.g., a user equipment (UE), a new radio NB (gNB), mobility management entity (MME), or other network component or network management component) as a service provider or a service consumer can process or generate a downlink (DL) generic non-access stratum (NAS) transport (DL GENERIC NAS TRANSPORT) message that includes a UE policy container with UE route selection policy (URSP) rules associated with a 5G network in response to providing UE capability information for provisioning URSP rules in EPS. Parameters from the URSP rules associated with a 5G network can be derived to establish a packet data network (PDN) connection in an evolved packet system (EPS) of a 4G network.

  • Patent number: 11877193
Abstract: Systems and methods of enabling access for non-emergency voice calls are described. A UE operates in a network supporting voice services via a multitude of RATs. The UE attempts to access the network via a first RAT offering voice services and data services. If the UE does not receive a response from the network within a first time period, the UE re-attempts the access to the network via the first RAT. If the number of access attempts for which the UE does not receive a response is at least a threshold value, the UE refrains during a second time period from further access attempts via the first RAT for the purpose of receiving data services, and continues to attempt access via the first or second RAT for the purpose of receiving voice services.

  • Publication number: 20230362624
Abstract: The present application relates to user equipment (UE) aggregation. For instance, a UE aggregation group is defined based on a subscription of multiple UEs with a network. Configuration information identifying the UE aggregation group, its member UEs, the role of each UE (e.g., whether a group leader or, otherwise, a group member), and/or radio access capability signaling (RACS) is stored. Upon a registration of a UE, the UE aggregation group is indicated to the network. The network then enables an aggregated communication capability to the UEs of the UE aggregation group based on the configuration information.

  • Publication number: 20230262576
Abstract: The present application relates to improving coverage and reliability of cellular emergency service. In an example, a relay UE is authorized by a core network to provide a U2N relay for emergency services, where this authorization is based on UE capability information sent to the core network indicating the support of U2N relay emergency functionalities. During a U2N relay discovery, the relay UE indicates, to a remote UE, that this capability can be provided. Accordingly, the remote UE selects the relay UE from a candidate set of relay UEs and a relay communication is established.

  • Publication number: 20230209424
Abstract: Techniques discussed herein can facilitate network slice based cell re-selection. One example aspect is a baseband processor of a user equipment (UE), including one or more processors configured to determine support for slice based cell re-selection (SCR), generate a SCR information element (IE) that indicates capability support for cell re-selection based on network slicing, generate a registration request comprising the SCR IE in response to determining support for SCR, receive a REGISTRATION ACCEPT message comprising a slice radio resource management information (SSRMI) in response to generating the registration request; and generate a REGISTRATION COMPLETE message in response to receiving the SSRMI.

  • Publication number: 20230125555
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for paging subgrouping are described herein. A UE may transmit a UE capability message as part of a registration procedure. The UE capability message may include paging subgroup assignment capability information. The UE capability message may be received at a CN via NAS signaling. The CN (e.g., an AMF of the CN) may assign the UE to a paging subgroup, based at least in part on the UE capability message; store the assignment in UE context; and transmit paging subgroup assignment information to both the UE and a base station. The paging subgroup assignment information may include an assignment of the UE to a paging subgroup. The UE may monitor for a paging occasion associated with the paging subgroup assigned to the UE, in a 5GMM_IDLE mode or a 5GMM_CONNECTED mode with RRC_INACTIVE indication.

  • Publication number: 20230043617
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for public land mobile network (PLMN) selection for disaster roaming. A user equipment (UE) determines a disaster condition at a first PLMN, where the UE is a subscriber of the first PLMN. The UE determines an availability of a second PLMN for disaster roaming. The UE selects the second PLMN and attempts registration on the second PLMN for disaster roaming. In response to attempting the registration on the second PLMN for disaster roaming, the UE receives a registration reject message including a cause value corresponding to a registration failure for disaster roaming on the second PLMN due to the disaster condition on the first PLMN. The UE waits for a first period of time before again attempting to register for disaster roaming on the second PLMN for the first PLMN with the disaster condition.

  • Publication number: 20230040675
Abstract: The present application relates to small data transmission (SDT). In an example, SDT is available for transferring information between a UE and a network, where a NAS layer of the UE is in a 5GMM-CONNECTED mode with an RRC inactive indication and an AS layer of the UE is in an RRC_INACTIVE state. To do so, the UE can be pre-configured to classify the information as qualifying for SDT. In addition, resources can be pre-configured for the SDT. For instance, the UE can maintain a set of radio bearers in a suspended state. While the NAS layer is in the 5GMM-CONNECTED mode with the inactive indication and the AS layer is in the RRC_INACTIVE state, one or more of the pre-configured resources can be used to transmit the information between the UE and the network.

  • Publication number: 20230037839
Abstract: The present application relates to supporting eDRX by a RedCap UE. In an example, a UE indicates to a network that the UE is operating as a RedCap UE and requests an eDRX configuration. In response, the network selects one or more values for the eDRX and sends such value(s) to the UE.

  • Patent number: 11411616
Abstract: Systems, devices, and configurations to implement trusted connections within wireless networks and associated devices and systems are generally disclosed herein. In some examples, a wireless local area network (WLAN) may be attached to a 3GPP evolved packet core (EPC) as a trusted access network, without use of an evolved packet data gateway (ePDG) and overhead from related tunneling and encryption. Information to create the trusted attachment between a mobile device and a WLAN may be exchanged using Access Network Query Protocol (ANQP) extensions defined by IEEE standard 802.11u-2011, or using other protocols or standards such as DHCP or EAP. A trusted WLAN container with defined data structure fields may be transferred in the ANQP elements to exchange information used in the establishment and operation of the trusted attachment.
