  • Patent number: 8976407
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for receiving a print file having an actual page size, and a nominal imposition template specifying a nominal page size, and generating an imposition flat for printing. If the actual page size matches the nominal page size, the nominal imposition template is applied to the print file without change. If, however, the actual page size differs from the nominal page size, the nominal imposition template is automatically modified based on the actual page size, and then the modified imposition template is applied to the print file to create the imposition flat.

  • Patent number: 7800776
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for imposing multiple pages on a printable sheet, in which the multiple pages include pages of varying size. The printable sheet is divided into a plurality of slots, and each of the pages is assigned to a corresponding slot. User-specified settings are received for page alignment, offset and scaling for each of the slots, and the page alignment, offset and scaling of each of the pages are individually adjusted based on the user specifications.

  • Patent number: 7177045
Abstract: A process for formatting printable information orders selected data objects, document pages or images, to create a new document, where pages may be of uniform dimension and page orientation or varying in one or both of dimension and page orientation. Groups of pages are imposed on sheets so that the sequence of the printed pages matches the page sequence of the created document after post-printing processing. A method of imposing the differently shaped and sized printable pages on sheets divides an image of a sheet into separate slots and places a page into each slot by placing an image of the page in each slot. Alignment, offset and scaling settings are applied to individual slots, rows, columns or all slots. A variety of other layout and job options are set before printing. In a distributed system, the software, accessible from any workstation, is housed on a server.

  • Patent number: 7162929
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for evaluating an adhesive layer such as a tack coat. In one embodiment, a portable apparatus is provided to test a tack coat layer prior to applying an overlay. The portable apparatus includes a tripod configuration placed on a surface, a plate conformed to the surface by a load and a torque wrench-applying a pull-off force to test the strength of the surface. In other embodiments, a portable apparatus is provided to test a tack coat layer prior to applying an overlay, where the portable apparatus does not include support members.

  • Publication number: 20020076019
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for placing and receiving voice calls using the conventional telephone network or the Internet are disclosed. A caller initiates a call by lifting a handset and dialing a toll-free telephone number. The call is routed over through a local telephone switch or through an Internet Service Provider. A credit or payment is issued to the caller for each minute the call continues. Brief commercial messages are played to the participants of the call to promote goods or services offered by a sponsor. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, a Speech Recognition Engine deploys a sponsor's precisely targeted promotion when key words spoken during the call are detected.

  • Patent number: 5774244
Abstract: An optical communications network includes a plurality of passive optical networks (PONs) connected in a ring in PON address order, in which communication channels between terminals are wavelength multiplexed. Each optical link between adjacent PONs includes a tunable wavelength filter, and a common wavelength allocation database is arranged dynamically to select wavelengths for a connection and to provide corresponding control signals to the appropriate filters such that the allocated wavelengths for a connection can pass over only the transmission path between the terminals. Thus the same wavelengths can be re-used for another connection whose transmission path does not overlap with any existing transmission path involving those wavelengths.
