  • Publication number: 20060075100
Abstract: A system, device, software and method for providing enhanced UPnP support on constrained devices. A low power proxy is used to save and communicate information with other devices on a local area network. The low power proxy can aggregate information for transmission to the constrained device in various situations, aiding the constrained device in receiving requested and necessary information in the event that information is filtered before reaching the constrained device and/or in the event that the constrained device is in a “low power” mode.

  • Publication number: 20060041596
Abstract: Synchronizing content description data between devices on an ad hoc peer-to-peer network involves storing a plurality of data entries on a directory server. Each data entry describes one or more multimedia data objects accessible via the network. A synchronization object of the directory server is associated with the data entries. The synchronization object is capable of describing changes to the data entries. The data entries are downloaded from the directory server to a cache of a control point device via the network. The synchronization object of the directory server is changed in response to a change in at least one of the data entries of the directory server. The cache of the control point device is updated with the change in the at least one data entry based on the changing of the synchronization object of the directory server.

  • Publication number: 20060025181
Abstract: A mobile terminal includes a processor capable of operating a link manager. The link manager is capable of at least partially operating a wireless connection between the terminal and an access point in an active mode, where the access point is coupled to a network. The link manager is also capable of transitioning the connection from the active mode to a standby mode or hibernate mode. In this regard, transitioning the connection includes entering the mobile terminal in a power-saving mode of a bearer of the connection, such as a Bluetooth power-saving mode, and directing the access point to reduce traffic flowing from the network across the connection to the mobile terminal when the mobile terminal is otherwise capable of receiving the traffic.

  • Publication number: 20050267972
Abstract: A light (resource-preserving) remote desktop protocol (32-35) for enabling a user of a client communication terminal (12) to interface with an application hosted by another communication terminal (14). Prior to exchanging remote user interfacing information according to the light remote desktop protocol, a discovery process (31) is performed. The light remote desktop protocol (32-35) provides for exchanging the user interfacing information according to a BEEP-like transport protocol and for indicating the user interfacing information itself using XML or SOAP to describe screens by which a user of the client makes inputs to the application and receives outputs from the application, and using a KPML-like or SOAP protocol derived from an input-event XML schema for the other communication terminal/remote user interfacing server (14) input events on the client communication terminal (12), including events in which a key is pressed on the client (12).

  • Patent number: 6788676
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device (11) including a mobile terminal (MT) (11b 11b′) coupled to a terminal equipment (TE) device (11a) including an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) proxy adjunct (P+) for use by the TE (11a) in making multimedia service requests for IP communications with a desired end-to-end QoS, the end-to-end including the local connection and a network supporting QoS, e.g. an UMTS network (12) having as an extension of its packet-switched core network (12b) an IMS (12c) providing multimedia services with selected QoS. The IMS proxy adjunct (P+) is implemented to make extensions to messages according to any protocol providing a session description protocol (SDP) component, such as SIP or RTSP, so as to ensure the selected QoS. In addition, a mechanism is provided by which the MT (11b′) informs the IMS (12c) when it has IMS proxy capabilities.
