  • Patent number: 11310439
Abstract: The invention disclosed herein concerns a privacy enhancing device for use with IP cameras and related methods. The privacy device includes an adjustable light filter and is configured to be placed over the lens of an IP camera such that the image captured by the IP camera passes through the filter. The transparency of the light filter is controlled using a control module in response to user inputs received using an on-board user interface so as to provide varying levels of privacy ranging from an opaque state and a transparent state. Inputs that serve to facilitate and enhance operation of the device can also be received from other input sources such as connected computing devices. For security, the control path defined by the control module and the on-board user input device can be isolated from other more sophisticated control devices that can be prone to hacking and remote control.

  • Patent number: 10491382
Abstract: Systems and methods for establishing secure communication between electronic devices. In some aspects, at least two computing devices physically interact with each other multiple times, and sensors in each device detect and record the times of the physical interactions. The times of the physical interactions are used as time secrets, which are used as a basis for generating a cryptographically secure key used as a shared secret among the devices to provide secure communications therebetween.

  • Patent number: 9788198
Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for protecting the privacy of a wireless data transmission. A request is received from a client device to connect to a base station. A session identification is assigned to the client device and a set of transmission identifications are generated using a block cipher with the assigned session identification and a secret key as input. The transmission identifications identify a frequency channel and a time slot for the client device to wirelessly transmit a message to the base station. The set of transmission identifications are then encrypted and sent to the client device.
