  • Patent number: 4976113
Abstract: An apparatus for indirect-evaporative gas cooling comprises a shell (1) with an inlet fitting (2) and outlet fittings (3,4). The inlet fitting (2) is for letting in a total gas stream. The outlet fitting (3) is for letting out the main gas stream and is located on the side of supplying the main gas stream to the consumer. The outlet fitting (4) is for letting the auxiliary gas stream to the atmosphere and is located on the side of the inlet fitting (2). The shell (1) accommodates a wettable capillary-porous solid (6), wherein there are provided moist ducts (7) and dry ducts (8) which intercommunicate on the side of the outlet fitting (3). This makes it possible to adjust the ratio between the surface areas of the dry and moist ducts, whereby the cooling efficiency is considerably increased.

  • Patent number: 4971245
Abstract: In a casing of an air heater-cooler there is mounted an additional partition between the wall of the casing and a main partition to form a section for the passage of a heat transfer agent being utilized. Heat transfer elements are provided with finned inserts freely fitted on the surface of the heat transfer elements in the above section and in a section, for the passage of the flow of air being humidified, a capillary porous lining is made at the surface of the inserts.

  • Patent number: 4842052
Abstract: The proposed cooler has the form of a thermal tube (1) with zones (2 and 3) for evaporation and condensation, respectively, and outer fins (4) in the zone (3). The cooler has a casing (5) open at one side to admit a flow of gas, the casing accommodating fins (4) so that ends thereof form with a wall of the casing (5) at the other side a cavity (A) to reverse the flow of gas. Adjacent fins (4) are hermetically connected into pairs (6), and form passages (7, 8) between each pair and inside each pair. Provided at the walls of the inner passages (8) is a capillary porous lining (9) ends of which are in contact with a liquid medium (10).
