  • Publication number: 20130073280
Abstract: A social networking system includes a mechanism for integrating user actions on objects outside of the social networking system in the social graph. External system operators include widgets that, when executed by user devices, record user interactions that correspond to a defined structure of actions and objects. Third party operators utilize a tool provided by the social networking system to define the structure of actions and objects, verb tenses of action types, and noun forms object types. External actions are recorded by the social networking system for publishing to the social graph in dynamically generated sentences formed using the structure of the actions and objects.

  • Publication number: 20130073983
Abstract: A social networking system includes a mechanism for integrating user actions on objects outside of the social networking system in the social graph. For example, streaming music on external systems may be integrated into the user experience on the social networking system. Third-party developers, in addition to administrators of the social networking system, may define objects and actions that enable integration of external music sources to be played and controlled using the social networking system while also providing socially relevant information to other users of the social networking system. Actions and objects recorded from these external user interactions are structured to enable aggregation and structured querying, which enables data visualizations of the information discoverable on the social graph. In this way, interesting information about users' actions outside of the domain of the social networking system may be shared and compared with other users on the social networking system.

  • Patent number: 7606274
Abstract: An optical nose for detecting the presence of molecular contaminants in gaseous samples utilizes a tunable seed laser output in conjunction with a pulsed reference laser output to generate a mid-range IR laser output in the 2 to 20 micrometer range for use as a discriminating light source in a photo-acoustic gas analyzer.

  • Publication number: 20080101423
Abstract: This disclosure demonstrates successfully using single, polycrystalline, hot pressed ceramic, and thin film Fe doped binary chalcogenides (such as ZnSe and ZnS) as saturable absorbing passive Q-switches. The method of producing polycrystalline ZnSe(S) yields fairly uniform distribution of dopant, large coefficients of absorption (5-50 cm?1) and low passive losses while being highly cost effective and easy to reproduce. Using these Fe2+:ZnSe crystals, stable Q-switched output was achieved with a low threshold and the best cavity configuration yielded 13 mJ/pulse single mode Q-switched output and 85 mJ in a multipulse regime.

  • Publication number: 20040003380
Abstract: An intermediate language (IL) program is verified by processing the IL program in a single pass. Processed IL instructions may be provided to a just-in-time (JIT) compiler so that the IL program can be converted into a native language program of a targeted device. A verification apparatus may comprise a memory, a sequencing module, a memory updating module, and a rule logic module. The memory comprises an IL offset stack and a data structure that stores information of an IL stack corresponding to a processed IL instruction. The verification apparatus processes the IL program in a straight-line manner except when encountering IL instructions that correspond to designated op code types. In such cases, the verification apparatus may alter a sequencing of processing the IL program by utilizing the IL offset stack.

  • Patent number: 6261439
Abstract: A cathodic protection system utilizes dynamic control of an output from a power supply to vary an impressed current applied to a structure to be protected proportional to a measurement of stray electrical current. The current is also supplied to an anode bed in an amount sufficient to maintain the structure more negatively charged than the anode bed such that the stray electrical currents are directed away from the structure, thus avoiding electrolytic attack.
