  • Patent number: 10524985
Abstract: A vibratory tablet feeder includes a reservoir for storing a supply of tablets with a pathway that leads to an exit opening for discharging tablets therefrom. Vibration of the reservoir moves tablets as a flow of tablets along the pathway to the exit opening. The feeder can include a wiper spaced vertically from the pathway. The wiper has a wiping surface that is configured to guide at least one vertically-bunched tablet in the flow of tablets away from the exit opening for return to the reservoir in order to provide singulated flow of tablets at the exit opening. A portion of the pathway may define a chamfered edge that is configured to guide at least one horizontally-bunched tablet in the flow of tablets away from the exit opening for return to the reservoir in order to provide singulated flow of tablets at the exit opening.

  • Patent number: 10255154
Abstract: Mechanisms for implementing a test mode of operation in a computing device are disclosed. A first request to set a read-only object variable maintained by the computing device to a first value is received. It is determined that a current mode of operation of a plurality of different modes of operation is a test mode of operation. Based on determining that the current mode of operation is the test mode of operation, the read-only object variable is set to the first value.

  • Patent number: 8661242
Abstract: A network running SNMPv3 includes conventional managed devices and a control provided with timed updating of the authentication and privacy password set. The timed updating function maintains memorized current and new password sets for each managed device. From time to time, a new set of passwords is automatically generated. A “change password” message including the new passwords is sent to the managed devices encoded with the current passwords. If the current passwords are authenticated by the managed device(s), the new passwords are adopted by the managed devices as current passwords, and an acknowledgement is sent to the control encoded with the new passwords. The control responds by updating its stored current passwords to the new passwords for each individual managed device. When a user wants information, the control encodes the request message with the current passwords, and the managed device responds with the information when the current passwords are verified.

  • Patent number: 8611234
Abstract: A network includes a network switch and plural remote nodes, each connected by a cable or channel with the network switch. The network switch includes a set of channel interfaces, each of which includes a visual indicator responsive to data traffic on the associated channel. A cable tracing arrangement includes a tracing signal generator at a channel interface of each remote node, which generates a tracing signal when cable tracing is desired. The tracing signal, when generated for cable tracing, flows over an existing cable to the associated channel interface of the network switch. At the associated channel interface, the tracing signal is converted to a visual illuminator drive signal, which illuminates the visual indicator of the channel with an indication that is distinguishable from the data traffic indication.

  • Patent number: 8369045
Abstract: A hard disk drive includes a chassis which supports a “sealed” housing containing a data storage magnetic disk, and read/write heads and actuator. The housing also contains an erasure device which generates a magnetic or other field or emanation for erasing the disk, so that the erasing field or emanation need not penetrate the sealed housing to effectuate erasure. A backup power supply provides power to the erasing device so that erasure can occur even in the absence of external power. A bus- or network-actuated arrangement couples power to the erasure device so that many hard drives may be simultaneously erased.

  • Patent number: 8340968
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for automatically training diction of a person acquires a speech data stream of the person as the person is speaking, compares the words in the speech data stream to a set of predefined undesirable phrases provided in a look-up table and upon detection of one of the predefined undesirable phrases in the speech data stream, alerting the person by an alarm.

  • Patent number: 8112469
Abstract: An emergency override system includes first and second communication interfaces, a sensor, and a processor. The first communication interface is connected to the second communication interface by a communication line. The sensor is disposed along the communication line and is configured to output signals in response to sensing network data being transmitted on the communication line. The switch is disposed along the communication line and has an open configuration and a closed configuration. The processor is coupled to the switch and the sensor and is configured to control the opening and closing of the switch in response to the signals transmitted by the sensor. The processor provides device control data to the network device over the communication line when the switch is open. The network control data commands the network device to perform a predetermined function in response to a lack of network data being transmitted on the communication line.

  • Patent number: 7631670
Abstract: A medicament tablet dispensing system and method dispenses any selected number of tablets, up to a maximum number, with minimal dispensing delays. During fill operations, a preset number of tablets are counted and stored in dedicated storage compartments. Dispensing operations are performed in response to dispense request commands. The fill operations are performed in a manner independent from the quantity of tablets identified by the dispense request commands. During the dispensing operations for a particular dispense request command, the preset number of tablets are emptied from one or more of the dedicated storage compartments, thereby avoiding delays associated with counting all of the dispensed tablets. Moreover, the fill operations and the dispensing operations may be performed in parallel for high-throughput dispensing applications.

  • Patent number: 7383862
Abstract: A discrete object dispensing system and method dispenses any selected number of objects, up to a maximum number, without a substantial delay associated with counting all of the tablets. A preset number of objects are counted and stored in dedicated primary chambers. Furthermore, an overflow chamber is provided for temporarily storing and then dispensing tablets which are fed to the primary chamber after the primary chambers are filled with their respective number of tablets. In addition, a direct feed channel is provided for dispensing individually counted tablets. The chambers and direct feed channel can together dispense the selected number. It is also preferable that the chambers have subchambers, and that more than one subchamber be capable of being emptied during a single dispensing operation.

  • Patent number: 7219703
Abstract: An improved tablet feeder includes a rotating body defining multiple chambers that are arranged in fluid communication with one another in a serial manner. Tablets flow through the multiple chambers for discharge from the tablet feeder. The rotating body has a rotational axis that is oriented at an inclination angle less than 60 degrees from horizontal. The chambers preferably include a primary chamber that holds a large number of tablets, a secondary chamber (which may have a frusto-conical sector or wedge shape) that is disposed at a position offset from the rotational axis, and a third chamber and exit tube disposed along the rotational axis. The device may be adapted to provide for singular and/or non-singular discharge of tablets from the exit tube during rotation of the rotating body.

  • Patent number: 7153236
Abstract: The muscle exerciser and toner device with microprocessor controlled multiple workouts, produces specially timed vibrations to exercise muscles and burn body fat without a need to perform an actual physical exercise. The device can be attached to different parts of the human body and thru vibrations make the muscles contract and extend. This is equivalent to a process of a genuine exercise session. A motor generates vibration with an eccentric weight mounted on a shaft. The motor is controlled by a microprocessor, which runs a specifically timed workout program consisting of exercise and rest cycles. After the workout is over the device shuts off automatically. The device operation is simple and requires pressing one button. The timing of the workout program is similar to that of a real exercise session, thus enabling the device to emulate a genuine physical workout. Several devices can be placed on various muscles simultaneously.
