  • Patent number: 4552188
Abstract: Weft inserting device adapted to be fixed on the frame of a jet loom or to the beat-up motion thereof. The device has two mixing tubes which are united at the location of their outlet ends so as to form a single central outlet portion terminating in a single outlet opening, the outlet opening being followed by a directing portion with an open passage through. In the weft inserting device of the invention, the central outlet portion of the weft inserting device, starting from the discharge ends of the mixing tubes, is divided by means of a baffle disposed in a first plane which is perpendicular to a second plane containing the longitudinal axes of the mixing tubes, the baffle extending from the discharge point of the mixing tubes throughout at least a portion of the length of the central outlet portion. The longitudinal axis of the baffle lies in a plane which contains the axis of the directing portion of a weft inserting device.

  • Patent number: 4503891
Abstract: A loom having a means for automatically unweaving the weft upon the occurrence of a weaving fault, thereby reducing the labor needed to overcome such weaving fault and thus increasing the efficiency of the loom. The apparatus includes a device for the selective prevention of the weft from entering the shed of the loom, said device being mounted on the loom between the weft supply and the weft-entering end of the shed. The invention may be applied to looms wherein measured lengths of weft are inserted mechanically into the shed, or to jet looms, wherein measured lengths of weft are inserted by jets of inserting fluid such as air or water into the shed of the loom.

  • Patent number: 4458728
Abstract: Let-off motion for elongated material wound on a let-off beam. Such let-off motion comprises a tension detector connected to the input of a let-off element, the output of which is connected with the control element of the driven let-off unit, with the input shaft of the drive and output shaft of the let-off drive, which responds to changes of the control magnitude value in its control element by a change of the relation of angular velocities between the input and output shafts. The input of the let-off element is a rotary disc slidably arranged between two axially arranged clutch discs of the let-off element, the clutch discs being mutually positively rotatable in opposite directions. The clutch discs of the let-off element are drive-coupled with the input shaft of the driven let-off unit, and the disc of the let-off element is provided with a central, internally threaded hole which receives and is threadedly mated with the threads on the spindle of the let-off element.

  • Patent number: 4433705
Abstract: A picking channel for pneumatic jet looms with auxiliary blowing sections disposed across the weaving width and consisting of at least three auxiliary blowing nozzles the relative positions of the axes of which being those of skew lines with the axis of the first auxiliary blowing nozzle crossing the axis of the weft thread under insertion. The axes of the other auxiliary blowing nozzles pass said axis of the weft thread under insertion of the outside, in the direction of the axis of the first auxiliary blowing nozzle. The various dispositions of both the auxiliary blowing sections and nozzles insure reliable weft insertion, and economic exploitation of the energy of the carrier medium and, consequently, a greater weaving width.

  • Patent number: 4321947
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for accurately controlling the distribution of pressure fluid through a number of branch conduits, the apparatus being advantageously employed for jet looms. The apparatus eliminates excessive wear of mutually engaged parts which would otherwise cause unwanted time delays in the operative steps of the system with which it is employed. The apparatus includes a plurality of valves, each valve having a movable valve element coupled with the outer race of an anti-friction bearing mounted on an eccentric by means of a piston and a push rod provided with a spring which maintains the piston in engagement with the outer race. The valve is opened when a stop on the piston is moved by the eccentrics into engagement with the other end of a push rod which forms a part of the movable valve element.

  • Patent number: 4319611
Abstract: A picking comb, particularly for jet looms. The comb has an array of active, monitoring and passive guide teeth each having a picking portion and a mounting portion and fixed by its mounting portion in spaced side-by-side releation on a carrier means. At least one of said guide teeth has its picking portion separate from its mounting portion. The picking portion is provided with a connecting element fitting into a corresponding bore in the mounting portion. Correct positioning of the two portions is assured by interfitting positioning parts and a clamping element. The detachable connection between the picking portion and the mounting portion of a tooth makes it easier to replace a defective picking portion without the necessity of removing the whole picking channel or a section thereof.

  • Patent number: 4241764
Abstract: There is disclosed a control mechanism for the sand rollers of looms. The output of the cloth take-up motion of a loom is drivingly connected to a first input shaft of a differential gearing mechanism, and the second input shaft of the differential gearing mechanism is drivingly connected to the output shaft of an electric motor. The electric motor is under the control of a mechanism which selectively permits its starting and stopping. The output shaft of the differential gearing mechanism is drivingly connected to the sand roller. The electric motor is preferably of the reversible type, the means for controlling the motor then including means for selectively reversing the motor. During the ordinary operation of the loom, the sand roller is driven by the cloth take-up motion through the differential mechanism, the electric motor being then switched off and locked.

  • Patent number: 4143681
Abstract: An improved distributing arrangement for successively coupling pulses of pressurized fluid through a succession of active weft-propelling auxiliary elements distributed along the shed of a fluid-jet loom is described. A pressurized fluid distributing cylinder supported for rotation on a portion of the machine frame has a plurality of peripheral openings which extend in axial and circumferentially spaced relation along the cylinder. A plurality of rotary valves are associated with each of the openings, with each valve having a first apertured portion carried by the cylinder and a second cooperating apertured portion carried by the frame and urged against the first portion. During a rotation of the cylinder in synchronism with the rotation of the main machine shaft, the conduits in both portions of each valve means come into registration to provide communication between the interior of the associated portion of the cylinder and one of the active elements of the weft insertion section.
