  • Patent number: 6455089
Abstract: A method that first involves steeping whole wheat grains in water until the shoots appear, percolating the water not bound by the grains and grinding the grains in order to obtain an aqueous suspension of a grain mass having a particle size not exceeding 500 &mgr;m. The steeping process of the wheat flour is carried out using the water from the suspension of the grain mass by gradually pouring the wheat flour into the water during the dough mixing process. Before the grinding step, the wheat grains can be optionally rinsed with water and separated from the rinsing water by the free flow thereof. The wheat may consist of food-grade wheat of the hard or soft types, while the wheat flour may consist of a macaroni or baking flour having a humidity not exceeding 14.5%, a whiteness of at least 42 specific units and a gluten content of at least 28%.

  • Patent number: 6414438
Abstract: A method and apparatus produce short-wave radiation from a gas-discharge plasma, comprising pre-ionization of the gas in the discharge region between coaxial electrodes achieved through an axial aperture formed in one of the electrodes and initiation of a pinch-type discharge. In order to increase the efficiency, energy, average power and stability of the radiation of the gas-discharge plasma, pre-ionization is achieved by a flux of radiation having wavelengths from the UV to X-ray range and by a flux of accelerated electrons from the plasma of a pulsed sliding discharge initiated in a region not optically communicating with the axis of the pinch-type discharge, with a rate of growth of the discharge voltage across the region of more than 1011 V/s, the fluxes of radiation and electrons being formed axially symmetrically and directed into the part of the discharge region outside the axis.

  • Publication number: 20020041615
Abstract: A device for use with a repetitively pulsed gas laser provides self-initiated UV preliminary ionization of the active volume of a laser, which has extended high-voltage and grounded electrodes disposed parallel to one another, to which peaking capacitors distributed along the length of the electrodes are connected in a low-inductance manner. The low-voltage contacts of the peaking capacitors are either connected directly to the grounded electrode or, if this connection is interrupted, dielectric plates are inserted that are disposed either on one side or on both sides of the grounded electrode. If the capacitors are charged rapidly, a surface discharge which effects UV pre-ionization of the volume of the main discharge and is uniformly distributed over the whole surface of the dielectric plates is produced on the surface of the dielectric plates.

  • Patent number: 5908962
Abstract: Greater efficiency in a water-alkaline emulsion cumene oxidation process using a cascade of reactors is obtained by splitting the reactor cascade into 2 stages with the first stage utilizing NH.sub.4 NaCO.sub.3 as the active carbonate in the stage containing less than 18% by weight cumene hydroperoxide and using Na.sub.2 CO.sub.3 as the active carbonate in the stage containing more than 18% by weight cumene hydroperoxide. By directly injecting ammonia into a recycle stream organic acids are efficiently neutralized. A counter current water wash of the second stage also increases process efficiency by scrubbing out unwanted impurities. Control of pH in the process improves efficiency and reduces impurity levels.

  • Patent number: 4095447
Abstract: The invention relates to the manufacture of seamless tubes by the method of tube rolling. According to the method of the present invention a hollow blank is deformed with regard to its wall thickness, the deformation being alternated at least twice with a reduction of the diameter of the blank by means ofa mandrel with alternating groups of grooves for deformation and groups for reduction. The mandrel diameter at the portions corresponding to the groups of reduction grooves is smaller than the mandrel diameter at the preceding portions corresponding to the groups of grooves designed for deformation of the hollow blank to change the wall thickness thereof. During the continuous rolling, this enables subsequent levelling out of bulges at the tube ends in grooves on the mandrel during the deformation of the blank wall. As a result, the range of rolled tubes is considerably enlarged with an increased production of small-diameter thick-walled tubes and large-diameter thin-walled tubes without bulged ends.
