  • Patent number: 4033148
Abstract: Selecting device for the individual selection of the operating means in knitting machines, particularly in large diameter circular knitting machines with rotating needle beds and an electronic selection mechanism. Said device includes at least one selecting magnet which is fixed with respect to the cam system, and selectors slidable in grooves of a needle bed, said selectors having at least an elastic central part, the lower part of the selector being located within the active range of the selecting magnet, the upper end surface of the selector being inclined towards the cylinder cam box. A slider is swingably arranged about a joint in its upper part inside a groove of the needle bed above each selector, the lower part of said slider being provided with a recess selectively receiving the upper part of the selector.

  • Patent number: 3987646
Abstract: The movement of each of a plurality jacks or rocking pressers of a ferromagnetic material a circular knitting machine between a knitting and a non-knitting position is accomplished by the cooperation of the fields of a permanent magnet and a selectively actuable electromagnet which are magnetically isolated from each other. The portion of the jack where such fields intersect may be recessed to accomplish jack positioning with minimum expenditure of magnetomotive force. The airgap in the pole structure of the permanent magnet and in the separate core of the electromagnet are coaxially disposed, with the electromagnet being suitably located either inside or outside the core of the electromagnet. Where outside mounting is used, the permanent magnet may be disposed on the periphery of the circular bed of the machine along with the jacks, while the electromagnet is radially spaced therefrom.

  • Patent number: 3972206
Abstract: A knitting unit selection device for a knitting machine includes a plurality of pivotable knitting unit actuators which are aligned in one level of the machine and which cooperate with guiding cams to be brought into the influence of a single magnetic actuator at each of a pair of selection positions of the machine. The magnetic actuator includes a permanent magnet and a field-weakening electromagnet disposed at each of the selection locations of the machine. A pair of spaced cam-lifting arrangements are individually associated with the selection positions for moving certain of the needle units between a disengaged and a knit position and between a disengaged and a tuck position, respectively. Each of the cam lifters are so located relative to the successive needle units that the movement of the needle unit into engagement with the cam lifter when such unit is selected is identical for each of the cam lifters.
