  • Patent number: 7319871
Abstract: A method and apparatus providing a handback process in a wireless telecommunication system after an inter-MSC handoff from a first MSC to a second MSC during an active call to an MS are provided. In one embodiment, the method includes: a) initiating an inter-MSC handback attempt from the second MSC to the first MSC, b) setting up resources in the first MSC and a first BS associated with the first MSC, c) sending a command to the MS directing the MS to begin the inter-MSC handback attempt, d) receiving a message from the MS indicating that the inter-MSC handback attempt failed, e) timely cleaning up the resources set up in the first MSC and first BS due to the new message exchange between the first and second MSCs, and f) sending a message to a second BS associated with the second MSC indicating that the first MSC and first BS are ready for another inter-MSC handback attempt.

  • Patent number: 7113802
Abstract: A method providing communication between an MSC and a mobile terminal in a wireless communications system including using the 10 digit MIN identifier for identifying the mobile terminal in all messages requiring a mobile terminal identifier sent from the MSC via a base station to the mobile terminal and using the 15 digit MIN-based IMSI identifier for identifying the mobile terminal in all messages requiring a mobile terminal identifier sent from the mobile terminal via the base station to the MSC. The method can also include deploying the use of 15 digit MIN-based IMSI identifiers in one MSC at a time. The invention also includes a system for providing mobile terminal identification information in a wireless system. The system includes a mobile terminal capable of receiving and responding to messages using a 10 digit MIN for identifying the mobile terminal and sending messages having a MIN-based IMSI identifier for identifying the mobile terminal.

  • Patent number: 7016478
Abstract: Various embodiments of a 911 emergency voice/data telecommunication network are provided. In one embodiment, the telecommunication network includes: a caller device originating a 911 emergency call having a voice portion, and a data portion, a local service interface, a public voice network, a public data network, and an ESN, wherein the ESN determines the appropriate emergency service organization to receive the 911 emergency call and dispatches the voice portion and data portion thereto. In another embodiment, the telecommunication network includes: a BS, MSC, MPC, and PDE. In another embodiment, the 911 emergency call includes a 911 origination service option. In another aspect of the invention, a method for communicating a mobile-originated 911 emergency call to an appropriate PSAP is provided. In still another aspect of the invention, a caller device for originating the 911 emergency call is provided. The caller device includes: a microphone, a camera, and a 911 button.

  • Publication number: 20040242232
Abstract: A system and method of providing communication with a wireless mobile terminal in a wireless communications network having a plurality of wireless communications systems. The method includes sending the mobile terminal's MEC between the wireless communications systems in all intersystem messages that contain the MIN for wireless mobile terminal identifiers. This guarantees the successful termination in the system that uses MECs that can support international roaming. The method also includes collecting wireless mobile terminal MECs and correcting incorrect MECs. The system is a wireless communications network for providing communications for a wireless mobile terminal.
