  • Publication number: 20080223460
Abstract: A poppet valve assembly (118) for a piston-type fluid pump (10) having a longitudinal axis (A) and also having a plug (136) that defines a spring housing (135), includes a poppet (122). The poppet (122) has a first portion (126) and a second portion (128) of increased height, with the second portion (128) being disposed on the first portion (126). A spring (130) forms at least one coil and is disposed in the spring housing (135). The spring (130) has a first end (132) freely disposed around the second portion (128) of the poppet (122), and the first end (132) is annularly spaced around the second portion (128) in a direction generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (A). A seat insert (124) is also included that is configured for reciprocally receiving the poppet (122).

  • Patent number: 6845754
Abstract: A fuel injection device (26) for an internal combustion engine (10) has a fuel inlet (40) and a fuel outlet (42). A plunger (58) is operable within a fuel pumping chamber (50) for forcing pressure-amplified fuel to open and pass through an outlet control valve (56) at the outlet. A (“fast-acting”) control valve (64) operates in timed relation to the engine cycle to allow control fluid from an oil rail (34) to force valve (56) closed when fuel is not to be injected and to disallow control fluid from forcing valve (56) closed when fuel is to be injected. A (“slow-acting”) control valve (72) is selectively operable in timed relation to the engine cycle to disallow control fluid from acting on plunger (58) when fuel is not to be injected, but allow control fluid to act on the plunger to force injection when control valve (72) is disallowing control fluid from forcing control valve (56) closed.

  • Patent number: 6201388
Abstract: An angular position sensor is couplable to an actuator for angular positional sensing of a shaft thereof. The sensor includes a base for mounting to the actuator. A diametrically magnetized permanent magnet ring is coupled to, and axially aligned with, the shaft. Further, a magnetic material cylindrical sleeve is coupled to the said base and disposed circumferentially around the magnet ring such that the sleeve is separated from said magnet ring by an air gap. A pair of diametrically opposing cylindrical segments are coupled to the sleeve by a circular support member and extend through the magnet ring. The cylindrical segments having a slot between them in which a hall effect transducer is disposed. The transducer senses the magnetic field flux of the magnet ring in the slot and thereby produces a signal indicative of the shaft's angular position.

  • Patent number: 6116215
Abstract: A throttle valve includes a one-piece valve body defining a transverse flow passage and an actuation device cavity. The throttle valve includes a valve assembly having a shaft which extends through the flow passage and which is mounted to the valve body via a pair of aligned passages formed in the walls of the valve body defining the flow passage. One of the aligned passages establishes communication with the actuation device so as to enable the valve shaft to be assembled to the valve body through the actuation device cavity. A pole carrier is mounted to the valve shaft and a pair of pole members are secured to the pole carrier. An electromagnetic actuation device is mounted within the actuation device cavity and is operable on the pole members in a contactless manner to impart rotation to the valve shaft through the pole members and the pole carrier upon energization of a coil assembly associated with theelectromagnetic actuation device.
