  • Publication number: 20090112966
Abstract: A distributed application deployment engine uses declarative deployment data that describes deployment characteristics for application modules, and potential target environments. The engine uses the deployment data to potentially match a module to a deployment target. At some point, the modules may then be actually deployed on the identified deployment target. This may be performed for multiple modules in the distributed application, thereby deploying the distributed application in a distributed environment.

  • Publication number: 20090113457
Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for performing requested commands for model-based applications. Embodiments of the invention permit efficient implementation of operations for model-based applications. Since drivers that are to implement an operation request data for implementing the operation, embodiments significantly reduce the likelihood of superfluous data being exchanged between an executive service and drivers. Further, if an operation is interrupted before implementation is complete, the operation can be resumed without having to re-perform already completed portions of the operation. Additionally, a user can be regularly updated on the progress of their commands.

  • Publication number: 20090112932
Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for visualizing key performance indicators for model-based applications. A composite application model defines how to graphically present an interactive user surface for a composite application from values of a key performance indicator for the composite application. A presentation module accesses values of the key performance indicator for a specified time span. The presentation module graphically presents an interactive user surface for the values of the key performance indicator for the specified time span in accordance with the definitions in the composite application model. Interface controls are provided to manipulate how the data is presented, such as, for example, panning and zooming on key performance indication values. Other relevant data can also be presented along with key performance indicator values to assist a user in understanding the meaning of key performance indication values.

  • Publication number: 20080270585
Abstract: Abstracting communication with a plurality of containers. Each container encapsulates or hosts a module (e.g., a web service, a database, etc.) associated with a distributed application. A meta-container communicates with drivers that interface with each of the containers. The meta-container represents an abstraction and a virtualization of the containers in the hierarchy. Each container may also be a meta-container for other containers. The recursion and layered hierarchy provide flexible, extensible, and efficient management of the distributed application.

  • Patent number: 6661793
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reconstructing media at a receiver from a media stream which includes a plurality of data packets wherein each data packet includes at least one media field. The media stream is monitored by a monitoring device and a packet pattern of the media stream is evaluated. An estimating device estimates a media time of at least one lost packet for reconstructing media by a reconstructing device at the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20030090326
Abstract: A transimpedance amplifier system includes a current source, such as a photodiode, coupled between two transimpedance amplifiers, each having feedback circuits with different impedances. Thus, for example, the cathode of a photodiode is coupled to a first transimpedance amplifier while the anode of the photodiode is coupled to the second transimpedance amplifier. Consequently, two voltage gains can be achieved without the use of conventional switched feedback circuits or the use of additional gain stages. A clamp circuit in parallel with one of the feedback circuits can be used to ensure that the both transimpedance amplifiers operate within their linear regions.

  • Publication number: 20020101885
Abstract: There is disclosed a method and apparatus for controlling the size of a jitter buffer in an audio receiver. The method an apparatus are such that network jitter can be distinguished from burst periods, where a large number of data packets (or packets) are transmitted rapidly. This method comprises the steps of monitoring the network for at least one burst period and then determining a likelihood for at least one subsequent burst period from this at least one burst period. The jitter buffer size is then adjusted based on the likelihood of this subsequent burst period. Apparatus for performing these method steps is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5792947
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting defects on the surface of a data recording medium. In one embodiment the present invention includes a sensor for detecting defects on the surface of a magnetic disk. The sensor generates an analog voltage signal that is representative of a surface anomaly detected on the disk surface. An analog signal processor processes the signal before it is received by a peak detecting circuit. The peak detecting circuit detects and converts a peak of the analog signal into digital data. The digital data is received and manipulated by a digital signal processor where the peak amplitude, average peak amplitude and average peak power of the defect may be calculated.

  • Patent number: 5661559
Abstract: An automatic surface inspection apparatus comprises a light source that provides a coherent light beam that is spit and then recombined in a prism to generate an interference pattern. A cylindrical lens projects the interference pattern onto the surface of a disk as a line of light. A linear detection array converts the reflected line of light into an electrical signal that has a magnitude which varies dependent upon the reflected light intensity. Defects present on the surface of the disk cause variations in the reflected light intensity manifested as differences in the electrical signal output by the detection array.
