    Abstract: A hydrodynamic torque converter has a converter housing drivable in rotation by an engine, with an impeller. A turbine non-rotatably connected to an output shaft is hydrodynamically coupled to the impeller by way of a stator through an oil circuit. The turbine is axially slidably supported on the shaft. A friction surface on the turbine upon axial displacement of the turbine comes into frictional contact with a counterpart friction surface on the converter housing, thereby producing a lockup clutch effect. The turbine is also connected by way of springs to a coupling element arranged non-rotatably on the shaft. In an alternative configuration the turbine is arranged non-rotatably on the shaft and the lockup clutch action is by way of friction surfaces on a coupling element and on the converter housing. A torsion damper can be provided between the coupling element and the turbine.

    Abstract: An hydraulic servo device for a friction brake in a planetary transmission for motor vehicles contains a cylinder with stepped interior wall, a stationary dividing wall that has a hole and divides the interior of the cylinder into two regions, one piston in each of the two regions formed by the dividing wall, and a hollow piston rod that passes through the hole of the dividing wall and connects the two pistons. The wall of the cylinder has passages, through which a pressure medium enters or exits the cylinder, in each one of the regions formed by the dividing wall. The pistons in each of the regions of the cylinder divides each of the regions into an application-pressure chamber and a release-pressure chamber, forming four chambers in the order of an application-pressure chamber, a release-pressure chamber, an application-pressure chamber, and a release-pressure chamber. The hollow piston rod has openings which allow the pressure medium to enter or exit the piston rod and the application-pressure chambers.

    Abstract: A overrunning clutch having a lateral rolling bearing, wherein clamping elements (21) and rolling elements (23) are carried in respective separate cages (22 and 24) between an inner ring (15) and an outer ring (16). The rings are provided with tracks (17, 19 and 20) adapted to the clamping and rolling elements. The breadth of the rings exceeds the length of the clamping elements (21), the cages (22 and 24) adjoin one another, and at least one of the cages (22) is snap-fitted and axially secured by means of radial projections (27) in an annular groove (28) in one of the rings. The clamping element cage (22) has, adjacent the rolling bearing, an axial shoulder (25) and a radial flange part (26). The rolling bearing cage (24) has axially projecting annular beads (29 and 30), one of which merges into a radial guide flange (31), which is guided axially between the annular shoulder (18) and the adjacent flange part (26) of the free-wheel cage (22) and radially by the shoulder (25).

    Abstract: The connection for releasably joining two drum components of a hydraulically-actuated double friction disc clutch includes first and second drum components having circular cylindrical surface directed substantially axially, one overlapping the other. The inner component is formed with a catch groove or two catch recesses and the outer drum component includes catch projections, offset mutually 180.degree. and adapted to become locked within the catch groove. The outer drum includes tabs at an axial end adapted to fit within recesses formed on the periphery of the inner drum between catch projections. The drums are driveably connected by applying oppositely directed axial force sufficient to snap the catch projections into the catch groove. The drums are disassembled by elastically deforming the outer drum until the catch projections clear the catch groove and then applying an axial force that separates the drums.

    Abstract: An axial needle bearing assembly includes needles guided in a needle cage and located between thrust washers. The needles are distributed about the axis of the assembly and spaced angularly apart by the cage. The cross section of the thrust washers are L-shaped having nested legs surrounding the needles. One thrust washer has its leg inclined with respect to the legs of the other thrust washer and spaced apart defining a region in which lubricant is contained. At several angularly spaced locations, beads are formed on a leg of one of the thrust washers which overlap the other thrust washer and prevent disassembly but permit axial play between the thrust washers.
