Abstract: According to an aspect, a method for data placement in a distributed database includes obtaining access pattern information relating to end clients that requested access to data stored in a first regional quorum of replicas located within a first region, where the first regional quorum includes a first lead replica. The method includes identifying a placement algorithm from a configuration file associated with the distributed database, and executing the placement algorithm to generate a suggested placement for the data based on the obtained access pattern information, where the suggested placement includes a second regional quorum of replicas located in a second region different than the first region, and the second regional quorum includes a second lead replica. The method includes transmitting a migration request to the distributed database to transfer the data from the first regional quorum to the second regional quorum.

Abstract: A method includes receiving browsing data from the plurality of client devices associated with the user, receiving a request from one of the plurality of client devices to access the received browsing data, determining whether the request to access the received browsing data is a request to utilize the received browsing data for a task associated with the one of the plurality of client devices or a deletion request, wherein the deletion request is a request to delete a portion of the received browsing data and automatically deleting the portion of the received browsing data on the server and synchronizing the deletion across each of the plurality of client devices associated with the user when the request is determined to be a deletion request, otherwise providing access to the received browsing data to the one of the plurality of client devices.

Abstract: A server device receives a user request and retrieves, based on the user request, a list of popular topics, a generic ranking score for each topic in the list of popular topics, and a topic profile for a first topic in the list of popular topics. The server device identifies a user profile for the user and determines a personalization score for the first topic in the list of popular topics, where the personalization score for the first topic is based on one or more similarities between the user profile and the topic profile for the first topic. The server device determines a revised ranking score for the first topic in the list of popular topics based on the personalization score and the generic ranking score for the first topic; and ranks the topics in the list of popular topics, using the revised ranking score for the first topic.

The one or more server devices may further access a document index that stores information about canonical resource identifiers, where the information relates a particular canonical resource identifier to one or more other resource identifiers; determine whether the canonical resource identifier differs from the stored resource identifier; and replace the stored resource identifier with the canonical resource identifier, when the canonical resource identifier differs from the stored resource identifier.
