  • Patent number: 10863920
Abstract: A guidance and placement system and associated methods for assisting a clinician in the placement of a catheter or other medical device within the vasculature of a patient is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for guiding a medical device to a desired location within a vasculature of a patient is also disclosed and comprises detecting an intravascular ECG signal of the patient and identifying a P-wave of a waveform of the intravascular ECG signal, wherein the P-wave varies according to proximity of the medical device to the desired location. The method further comprises determining whether the identified P-wave is elevated, determining a deflection value of the identified P-wave when the identified P-wave is elevated, and reporting information relating to a location of the medical device within the patient's vasculature at least partially according to the determined deflection value of the elevated P-wave.

  • Patent number: 8827912
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods, systems, and apparatus for detecting an epilepsy event in a patient using a medical device. The medical device is capable of determining an occurring epilepsy event, for example a seizure or an increased risk of a seizure. The determination is performed by determining at least one NNXX value from the beat sequence of the patient's heart. The medical device may then take a responsive action, such as warning, logging the time of the seizure, computing and storing one or more seizure severity indices, and treating the epilepsy event.

  • Publication number: 20090054795
Abstract: A method for a 3-lead electrocardiographic (ECG) recording comprising three signal electrodes contained in the mid-horizontal plane of the human torso and the calculation of the standard leads I, II and III. Such electrodes are placed in-line as in a chest belt instead of the traditional positioning of electrodes in the upper and low parts of the frontal plane of the torso.

  • Patent number: 7289844
Abstract: A device and a process for analyzing a medical condition of a user. This device and process can also be used to predict a future abnormal medical condition of the user. The device includes a portable information-receiving device, an information processing device and a remote storage and processing device. These three devices may be in communication with each other via a wireless communication system. This device can include a GPS system for locating the user when the user is having an abnormal medical condition. The process is designed to take a digital signal from a plurality of ECG sensors on the portable information device and form a QRS wave. One or more points are extracted from this QRS wave are used to form a QRS complex wave. QRS complex waves are used to analyze the medical condition of the user. A plurality of parameters are calculated from these points on the QRS wave. If the medical condition of the user is in an abnormal range then an alarm will sound.
