Abstract: A method to reduce signalling loads in wireless communication networks in a wireless communication network comprising an IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) application server allocated on a server by implementing a new voice call terminating procedure. The method comprises determining whether a Mobile Station Roaming Number (MSRN) is related to a foreign network and, based on this determination, performing a number of operations.

Abstract: In a telecommunications network including a core network component and first and second telecommunications devices, with the second telecommunications device being associated with a SIM which is not directly routable in the telecommunications network in regard to communications with the first telecommunication device, a method of transmitting a communication between the first device and the second device including: the core network component receiving a communication from or for the second device via a data bearer; and configuring the core network component, to encapsulate the received communication and forward the encapsulated communication to a management server external to the telecommunications network so as to obtain appropriate routing data and/or routing authorisation for the communication.

Abstract: An apparatus for charging a mobile device includes an inductive coupler adapted to couple to an inductive charger such that, in use, the inductive coupler receives inductive charge from the inductive charger. The apparatus further comprises a battery and a battery charger, the battery charger being configured to transfer power from the inductive coupler to the battery. The apparatus further includes a power outlet adapted to provide power from the battery. In use, power received by the inductive coupler is transferred via the battery charger to charge the battery. When required, power may then be transferred from the battery to the power output. The power output can be connected to a power input of a mobile device and by this the internal battery of the mobile device may be charged using power stored in the battery of the charging apparatus.

Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method for managing traffic in a mobile communication network. The system of the invention comprises at least two base stations comprising their respective time slots synchronised and being configured to provide the same radio frequency channel, said radio frequency channel comprising: at least a first time slot for transmitting a first logical Broadcast Control Channel being associated to the first base station, at least a second time slot for transmitting a second logical Broadcast Control Channel being associated to the second base station and a plurality of shared time slots configured for allocating traffic information, wherein the first base station is operative to allocate a terminal at least one available time slot of the shared time slots.

Abstract: Method of determining a state of a mobile device, the mobile device having a one or more sensors, the method comprising the steps of: obtaining sensor data from the one or more sensors of the mobile device in an initial state. Determining if the initial state matches a previous state by comparing the obtained sensor data to previous sensor data acquired with the mobile device in the previous state. A mobile device includes logic to carry out this method.

Abstract: To avoid reference symbol collision, between reference symbols used by neighbouring cells in an OFDM based cellular telecommunications network, the transmission symbols on a given subcarrier used by respective neighbouring base stations are compared and where both transmission symbols are determined to be reference symbols the start time of the frame timing period of one of the base stations is adjusted.

Abstract: A method of managing a load within a cellular network. The method includes obtaining network usage records from the cellular network; extracting cell information from the network usage records; establishing terminal carrier routes for cellular terminals that have changed location as determined from the extracted cell information; deriving terminal carrier profile attributes for the cellular terminals that have changed location, based on the established terminal carrier routes; determining a load on a resource of the cellular network, based on the established terminal carrier routes and the derived terminal carrier profile attributes; and controlling resources of the cellular network in response to the determined load, so as to manage the load within the cellular network.

Abstract: Short Messaging Service (SMS) messages are handled at a network entity of a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) or a device that communicates with a PLMN. An address for a Short Messaging Entity (SME) is provided in Mobile Subscriber ISDN format, comprising a Type of Number (ToN) data field, a Numbering Plan Identification (NPI) data field and a subscriber identifier field. The SME is identified as a Machine Type Communication (MTC) device based on at least one of the ToN and NPI data fields or based on a predetermined code in the subscriber identifier field. A network entity receiving the SME address can identify the SME as an MTC device and further send a message to another network entity, at least one component of the message being based on the identification. This may be applicable for human to machine communications.
