Abstract: A method for representing linear features in a location content management system is disclosed. A linear feature is represented using a sequence of routing points that define a unique path when routed on a map through those points. A routing point consists of latitude, longitude, and optional stack position. Stack position defines an upper or lower level of a double-decker bridge or road. The data representing the linear feature is stored outside of a geographic database.

Abstract: A method and system for refreshing location code data is disclosed. The system includes a location code change system that receives map change data and location code change data. The location code change system processes the map change data, finds affected location codes, and updates the location code's information by manipulating the location code data or performing a geocoding operation. The updated location code data is stored in a location code system. The location code change system receives the location code change data from the location code system and provides information regarding the location code changes to a map change system, which facilitates map updates based on the location code changes.

Abstract: A method and system for managing relationships between location identifiers is disclosed. A relationship includes an originating identifier and a target identifier. A unique relationship is defined by the location codes and relationship types associated with the originating and target identifier. A synonym service, a translation service, and a validation service analyze a new or modified relationship prior to storing the relationship in a relationship store. A graph service, a statistics service, and a reporting service analyze the relationships stored in the relationship store.

Abstract: A method and system for exchanging location content data in different data formats is disclosed. A third-party system makes a request to retrieve, add, modify, or delete location content. The request is made in a first data format. A data exchange system receives the request, converts the request to a second data format supported by a location reference system, and sends the request to the location reference system. The location reference system prepares a response to the request and sends the response to the data exchange system. The data exchange system converts the response to the first data format and sends the response to the third-party system.

Abstract: A service provider interface protocol, when embedded into a network-capable device, can automatically connect the device to a wired or wireless network. This automatic device connectivity can include automatic logging on, automatic authentication and seamless, automatic data upload to, or download from, another location on the network. Configuration parameters for the automatic authentication, upload and download locations and other related device configurations can be stored within the network server-side management system.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for tracking and reporting the performance of a network. A client or a user device can access the network through a wired connection or wireless access points. The client maintains a log or track the events that occur during the log-on attempts as well as the communication sessions as well as other data related to the network performance. During the communication session data can be transferred between the client and a network device, such as the central server or a database, in the network, regardless of whether the network device is trusted and secure or not secure.

Abstract: A system and method are disclosed that allow information to be transmitted to a device in order to update or upgrade the device. Thus, a client can be updated from a central location in real-time after the client has been deployed. The system and method disclosed in accordance with the present invention also allows for an automated or user initiated updates to software or device configuration.
