Publication number: 20110158301Abstract: A modem device for use in a wireless communications terminal comprises a plurality of functional units to perform signal processing tasks which are connected in a ring structure. Each of the functional units comprises a local processor, a plurality of hardware accelerators and a switching matrix connected between a data input of the respective functional unit and each of the sub-components. The local processor receives task instructions from a controller of the modem device over a first bus system that uses a first protocol which includes addressing, and in response to the task instructions configures the hardware accelerators and switches the switching matrix to selectively produce connections between the data input and the hardware accelerators in a manner to perform the intended task. Data flow occurs in a ring structure between said functional units and through each of the functional units using a second protocol without addressing.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2010Publication date: June 30, 2011Applicant: BLUE WONDER COMMUNICATIONS GMBHInventors: Volker AUE, Lars MELZER

Publication number: 20080310532Abstract: In an OFDM mobile communications system, an algorithm for forming a preliminary estimate of the channel on pilot subcarriers is carried out. Based on this preliminary estimate, a channel property is estimated. This channel property is then used to decide whether to enter a mobile receiver mode or a stationary receiver mode. For example, in the mobile mode channel estimation is performed using only pilot symbols from the current symbol period, while in the static mode channel estimation is performed using pilot symbols from the current symbol period and pilot symbols from other symbol periods.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2006Publication date: December 18, 2008Applicant: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS ELECTRONICS, N.VInventors: Constant Paul Marie Jozef Baggen, Alessio Filippi, Sri Andari Husen, Maurice Leonardus Anna Stassen, Volker Aue, Andreas Bury, Thomas Fliess, Yann Casamajou, Frederic Pirot

Publication number: 20080212688Abstract: The invention relates to a Method for reception of DVB-H signals wherein a MPEG transport stream (MPEG-TS) is grouped into packets belonging to a certain IP data stream and forming bursts in time slices, the MPEG-TS is modulated into OFDM symbols, these symbols are grouped in frames, the frames themselves are grouped in superframes. A receiver is notified about a relative time from a first burst to transmission of the next burst and the receiver is switched off between the first and the next burst. The invention further relates to a DVB-H receiver.
