Abstract: Bichromophoric methine transfer dyes of the formula ##STR1## where L is a bridge member which does not permit any conjugation of .pi.-electrons between Z and Y,X is cyano, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkoxycarbonyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -monoalkylcarbamoyl, wherein alkyl may in each case be interrupted by oxygen atoms, or is C.sub.5 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkoxycarbonyl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.7 -monocycloalkylcarbamoyl, phenoxycarbonyl or monophenylcarbamoyl,Y and Z are each independently of the other aminophenylene, which may be benzo-fused, or heterocyclyl,are transferable from a transfer to a sheet of plastic-coated paper with the aid of an energy source.

Abstract: Bichromophoric methine and azamethine transfer dyes have the formulaZ.sup.2 --Z.sup.1 --LY.sup.1 --Y.sup.2whereL is a bridge member which does not permit any conjugation of .pi.-electrons between Z.sup.1 and Y.sup.1,Y.sup.1 and Z.sup.1 are each independently of the other aminophenylene, which may be benzofused, or heterocyclyl andY.sup.2 and Z.sup.2 are each independently of the other benzoquinoeiminyl, which may be benzofused, or heterocyclyl.

Abstract: Useful thermal transfer dyes are thiazole dyes having the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each, independently of the other, hydrogen, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted phenyl or cyclohexyl or together with the linking nitrogen atom a heterocyclic radical,R.sup.3 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, substituted or unsubstituted phenyl, benzyl, cyclohexyl, hydroxyl, furyl or thienyl, andA is a cyclohexadienone radical which may be substituted and/or benzofused.

Abstract: Heat transferable dyes which compared with the prior art show better solubility and/or higher light fastness and good to excellent transfer properties have the formula (I) ##STR1## where X is H or CN, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 independently of one another are alkyl, alkylcarbonyloxyalkyl, alkoxycarbonyloxyalkyl, alkoxycarbonylalkyl, haloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, cyanoalkyl, unsubstituted or alkyl-or alkoxy-substituted phenyl or benzyl or a radical of the formula--Y--O].sub.m R.sup.4 (II)where Y is C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkylene, m is 1 to 6 and R.sup.4 is alkyl or phenyl, with the proviso that if X is H then R.sup.1 and R.sup.3 are each substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted phenyl or if X is H and R.sup.1 is H, then R.sup.3 must be substituted or unsubstituted phenyl.
