  • Patent number: 8182478
Abstract: The invention relates to a bipolar electrosurgical instrument comprising a handle and a tool head. In the case of bipolar instruments, at least two mutually separate conducting paths must be provided within the instrument to supply the bipolar tool head. Reliable electrical insulation of these conducting paths relative to one another is often associated with a high cost in known electrosurgical instruments, such as scissors and clamps, since these instruments have a crossed joint. The present invention solves this problem in that the tool head is connected to the handle without crossing over itself.

  • Patent number: 7815638
Abstract: An applicator for an electrosurgical instrument, alternatively for argon-plasma coagulation and cutting, also argon-supported. The applicator includes a gas and high frequency current terminal, a cutting electrode attached to a gas and high frequency current supply pipe, an insulating cap for detachably fastening the applicator on the instrument handle, and an insulating casing tube displaceable relative to the applicator common longitudinal axis for exposing or covering the cutting electrode and surrounding the gas and high frequency current supply pipe over a longitudinal section, and a collar or an external right-angle bend at the casing tube distal end. At least one radially surrounding gas-sealing inhibiting device is arranged between an inside of the casing tube and an outside of the gas and high frequency current supply pipe, allowing that a respective position be frictionally fixed at any location of the displacement path of the casing tube.

  • Patent number: 7166106
Abstract: The invention relates to a bipolar clamp (10) comprising two scissor members (12, 14), which are joined together mechanically by means of an insulating screw or similar pivot joint (16) about which they can rotate with respect to one another, but are electrically insulated from one another, electrode components (18, 20) at distal ends (22, 24) of the scissor members (12, 14) for grasping tissue and conducting an electrical current through the tissue to cause. coagulation, handle devices (26, 28) at proximal ends (30, 32) of the scissor members (12, 14), current-supply means (34, 40, 42) at the proximal end (32) of one scissor member (14) ratchets (36, 38) between the pivot joint (16) and the proximal ends (32, 34) to lock, the scissor members (12, 14) to one another in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 6464703
Abstract: The invention relates to a surgical instrument for minimally invasive surgery, in particular in the form of pincers or forceps. The instrument comprises at least two gripping elements, which for the purpose of gripping can be moved like forceps towards one another in a gripping direction or apart from one another in the opposite direction. At least one gripping element comprises at one end a first limb and a second limb, and at least one flexible bending region. The limbs are spaced apart from one another in the gripping direction with at least the first limb of each gripping element disposed within a guide sleeve and movable in a longitudinal direction of the guide sleeve, relative to the second limb of the gripping element in such a way that during a relative movement of the limbs with respect to one another the associated gripping element can be moved in the gripping direction.

  • Patent number: 6391027
Abstract: The invention concerns a surgical instrument preferably for high-frequency surgery, which is designed for simple operation. For this purpose, by means of an operating device consisting of a movable handle and a grip handle, the housing 8 of the instruments of the electrode 5 moves longitudinally, through the motion of the thumb, so that the electrode 6 can be brought into working position or an APC mode can be selected. Through spring force, for instance, upon activation of a catch button or by setting aside the instrument, the electrode can automatically be retracted into the housing 8 or the housing 8 can be brought to a position surrounding the electrode 5.
