  • Publication number: 20090280386
Abstract: Proposed are a bipolar plate for a fuel cell and a method for the manufacture thereof. A simple, cost-effective manufacture is achieved with particularly good characteristics (high electrical conductance, high resistance to corrosion) by coating metallic plate material with Ti3SiC2 and subsequently forming it.

  • Patent number: 5104509
Abstract: A method of producing layers of hard carbon modifications on a substrate includes disposing the substrate in a vacuum chamber in which an anode electrode and a cathode electrode are disposed and spaced from one another. The anode electrode is made of a carbon containing material and serves as a carbon source when a direct current is formed between the spaced electrodes. The two electrodes are energized, thereby forming a direct current arc in the vacuum between the spaced electrodes; and hydrogen is introduced directly into the region of the arc by flowing hydrogen through at least one of the two electrodes while simultaneously maintaining the arc between the electrodes to feed the arc with carbon from the anode thereby coating a surface of the substrate with a hard carbon layer.

  • Patent number: 5037516
Abstract: In a process for application of a MoS.sub.2 coating on a substrate in which, within a sputter chamber, molybdenum disulfide is released in a gas discharge from a molybdenum disulfide target and deposited onto the substrate, in order to produce a lamella structure extending parallel to the surface of the substrate, it is proposed that the water vapor partial pressure in the sputter chamber is reduced to such an extent that the ratio of the water vapor partial pressure to the coating rate of the substrate falls below a prescribed value.

  • Patent number: 4788932
Abstract: In a device for coating the groove of a ball bearing with a powder-type licating material, in particular molybdenum sulfide, with a polishing component that enters the groove and is movable in relation to the groove, it is proposed, in order to increase the evenness of the coating and at the same time to prevent the area outside the rolling area of the groove from being coated, that the polishing component touch only that area on the groove over which the balls of the ball bearings roll, and that a feed device for the powder-type solid lubricant be provided which applies that lubricant to the polishing component outside the area where the polishing component touches the groove, in an area of the polishing component which comes into contact with the groove during relative movement between the polishing component and the groove.

  • Patent number: 4763508
Abstract: In a method for determining the friction torque of a test bearing, wherein one race member of the test bearing is rotated at a constant rotational speed, while the other race member is connected via a measuring head to a spring acting as force pickup which generates a signal for a measurement of the friction torque of the test bearing, in order to simultaneously enable in a simple manner a high time resolution and calibratability of the friction torque, it is proposed that the motion of the system comprising measuring head and force pickup be damped as little as possible, that in order to calibrate the entire test device, the test bearing be replaced by an air bearing, that with this air bearing arrangement a signal proportional to the spring deformation and a signal proportional to the measuring head acceleration be generated, that a composite signal be formed from the two signals and the relationship of these two signals be set so that they cancel each other out, and that in the measurement of the friction
