  • Patent number: 7760941
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of segmenting an object in a data set, wherein the object is initially segmented resulting in a first set (N0) of voxels. An erosion operation is performed on the first set (N0) of voxels resulting in an eroded set (N?) of voxels. A dilation operation is performed on the eroded set (N?) of voxels resulting in a dilated set (N+) of voxels. The erosion operation depends on a variable erosion threshold (??), and the dilation operation depends on a variable dilation threshold (?+).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 11, 2006
Date of Patent: July 20, 2010
    Assignee: MeVis Research GmbH
Inventors: Lars Bornemann, Volker Dicken, Jan-Martin Kuhnigk
  • Patent number: 7576740
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of volume visualization in which volumetric data is provided, the volumetric data having first voxels belonging to a reference surface. Second voxels of the volumetric data are determined having a user selected distance from the reference surface. The second voxels are visualized.

Date of Patent: August 18, 2009
Assignee: Fraunhofer-Institut für Bildgestützte Medizin Mevis
