Patent number: 6985844Abstract: A method for generating a network, in particular a telecommunications, water, long-distance heat supply, or power network, the network connecting all users to a main distribution node depending on the existing or definable local needs and requirements of the individual users. A graph is generated which is composed of edges and nodes. The graph includes all technically feasible and/or definable transmission paths of the network. The length and direction of the edges are derived from the real topography of the street segments and definable cable paths of the territory to be supplied by the network. The nodes form the intersections between the edges or streets and/or cable paths. The users are assigned to the graph in such a way that each user is connected to the closest edge or the closest node of the graph by an additional service edge.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1998Date of Patent: January 10, 2006Assignee: Deutsche Telekom AGInventors: Volker Ernst, Bjoern Werther, Manfred Werther, Frank Wille, Roman-Emanuel Zgoll

Patent number: 6723149Abstract: A separator for liquid, in particular for removing oil from crankcase gases, having a cover (11) into which a mount (13) for a cylindrical separating cartridge (14) is incorporated. The separating cartridge is composed, for example, of a non-woven separating material (20) wound around a support body (22) having end plates (33) on the end faces (32) of the support body. The end plates (33) may be composed, for example, of a two-component synthetic resin material. This results in a stable component which can be sealed utilizing the elasticity of the end plate (33) when pushed into the mount (13). This results in a cost effective exchangeable part in which several seals are saved in the complete structural component and yields a structural unit having increased economic effectiveness.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2001Date of Patent: April 20, 2004Assignee: Filterwerk Mann & Hummel GmbHInventors: Volker Ernst, Heinz Jawurek, Herbert Jainek

Patent number: 6161514Abstract: A suction or air intake module for an internal combustion engine comprising an air suction pipe made of synthetic resin material and a flange joint at the air intake on the cylinder head housing of the internal combustion engine. The air suction pipe is a one-piece blown element of synthetic resin material and is disposed by a spring in a housing part of the air intake module with the air outlet end of the air suction pipe extending into the area of a connection between the housing part and the cylinder head housing. A flange is arranged in the connecting area between the housing part and the cylinder head housing, the flange forming a single piece with the housing part and enabling the housing part to be sealingly attached to the air inlet of the cylinder head housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 1999Date of Patent: December 19, 2000Assignee: Filterwerk Mann & Hummel GmbHInventors: Volker Ernst, Arthur Klotz, Rudolf Leipelt, Thomas Schermuly

Patent number: 5725624Abstract: An air filter, particularly for the intake air of an internal-combustion engine, including a housing 13, an air filter insert 16 arranged in the housing, and a cover 10 closing off the housing 13. The air filter insert 16 is essentially a rectangular cartridge which has a surrounding seal 18. This seal 18 is clamped in between the housing 13 and the cover 10 in such a manner that it separates the unfiltered-air space from the filtered-air space. In addition, clamps 19 are provided which fasten the cover and the housing to each other and the filter cartridge is simultaneously secured in the housing. Direct supporting contact between the cover 10 and the housing 13 occurs only adjacent the clamps 19, and simultaneously the seal has a very low Shore hardness. As a result, the cover no longer rests as previously on the housing over the whole length of the seal, but only in the area of the clamps.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1996Date of Patent: March 10, 1998Assignee: Filterwerk Mann & Hummel GmbHInventors: Volker Ernst, Arthur Klotz

Patent number: 5698098Abstract: A filter for cleaning lubricating oil of an internal combustion engine has a filter housing with an access opening on an upper side to insert and remove filter elements. A cover is arranged to close the access opening. The housing has an inlet opening for dirty fluid and an outlet opening for clean fluid. Furthermore, a drain opening is provided in the housing which can be opened and closed with a closure element. The closure element is operationally coupled to the cover such that when the cover is closed, the closure element closes the drain opening, and when the cover is opened, the closure element opens the drain opening, allowing the fluid to drain out of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1995Date of Patent: December 16, 1997Assignee: Filterwerk Mann & Hummel GmbHInventors: Volker Ernst, Arthur Klotz, Rudolf Leipelt
