The reticulated mechanical fastening strip includes multiple strands of a backing attached to each other at bridging regions in the backing and separated from each other between the bridging regions to provide openings. Upstanding posts on each of the multiple strands have bases attached to the backing, and each of the multiple strands has a width that is greater than that of the bases of its attached upstanding posts.

A first mechanical fastening means is carried on the backing layer adjacent the fingerlift portion, and has a width w1. A second mechanical fastening means is carried on the backing layer, and has a width w2 and is separated from the first mechanical fastening means by a separation distance d1. Abstract: A hygiene article, particularly a sanitary napkin or an adult incontinence pad is disclosed. The hygiene article comprises an absorbent core having an elongate shape, being sandwiched between a back sheet and a front sheet. The back sheet and the front sheet extend beyond the absorbent core and are sealed together to form a sealing edge portion. A region of material adapted to form a first fastening means is arranged on the back sheet. A region of material adapted to form a second fastening means, substantially co-extensive with, and adapted to form a protective cover for, the first fastening means is also provided. Preferably at least the second fastening means is provided on the sealing edge. The fastening means may be formed from the same materials, for example, a hermaphroditic fastener, or from different materials for example, a mechanical fastening means and an adhesive fastening means.
