    Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for digitally reproducing images on photographic film. A main scanning element scans at least one image of the film during a main scanning operation and produces main scanning values from which at least one film-specific characteristic value can be obtained. Image processing means are provided for modifying the main scanning values on the basis of the film-specific characteristic values determined, at least one part of said main scanning values comprising main scanning values of at least two individual images.
