  • Patent number: 9065715
Abstract: A method for operating a radio communication system involves the use of OFDM and involves a first sending station modulating a first OFDM symbol onto a first carrier frequency and sending the first OFDM symbol to a first receiving station via a first transmission channel using an air interface. The first sending station changes the first carrier frequency during a time used for sending the first OFDM symbol, the change in the first carrier frequency being made independently of a change in transmission characteristics of the first transmission channel over time. A fast frequency hopping system is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8995917
Abstract: A method detects a first baseband signal sent by a first sending station via an air interface to a first radio station of a radio communications system. A first receive signal, which contains the first baseband signal superposed with at least a second baseband signal sent by a second sending station to a second radio station, is received by the first radio station. • Patent number: 8848651
Abstract: A method processes information to be sent via radio, according to which first bits represent a first number of N-tuples and second bits represent a second number of N-tuples. The first bits are to be sent using a first group of sub-bands of a frequency band, and the second bits are to be sent using a second group of sub-bands of the frequency band. A first modulation method is used for the first bits and a second modulation method is used for the second bits. The first bits are rearranged, forming M-tuples, and a symbol is formed from each M-tuple according to the first modulation method. The second bits are rearranged, forming P-tuples, and a symbol is formed from each P-tuple according to the second modulation method, and M?P. A corresponding method is used for processing information received by radio. Base stations and mobile radio stations carry out the method.

  • Patent number: 8831427
Abstract: An adaptive signal processing method to achieve an increase in capacity of data transfer systems, in which control data is returned via a backward channel. The method provides signal processing using an electrical sub-carrier sub-division according to frequency, the electrical sub-carrier with the lowest carrier frequency being permanently used as the backward channel (RC) for transferring control information relating to the current transfer quality of each sub-carrier. An electrical modulation on N parallel sub-carriers takes place in the transmitter (Tx) and then an optical intensity modulation is carried out for a serial data transfer in the optical channel (IRWC). The discrete division of the information to be transferred to the sub-carriers in a real-time operation can take place by the implementation of specific bit-loading algorithms.

  • Patent number: 8422572
Abstract: In a method and/or an OFDM device for SC-FDMA data transmission, a sequence of input data is transformed by means of a discrete transformation as transformed data signals of coded and modulated data signals on first frequency channels into a first frequency space over a first number of frequencies. The transformed data signals are mapped on second frequency channels in a second frequency space with a larger second number of frequencies. The transformed data signals on the second frequency channels are inverse-transformed using an inverse transformation. Data inversely transformed in such a way are provided for transmission. The transformed data signals are mapped into a frequency range of the second frequency channels in such a way that a constant component of the transformed data signals is mapped centrally within the frequency range.

  • Patent number: 8005045
Abstract: In a radio communication system, at least a first frequency band is subdivided into C radio resource units which are allocable for radio transmissions between radio stations and terminals. Each radio resource unit has at least two adjacent subcarriers, for allocation of at least a first resource unit for a data transmission between a terminal and a radio station. The radio station receives from the terminal a first short training symbol which has spectrally the same bandwidth as the first frequency band and includes at least Q frequency carriers, where Q is greater or equal to C, but smaller than the total number of subcarriers. The radio station estimates the radio channel for at least the first radio resource unit using the first short training symbol, and an allocation of the first radio resource unit to the terminal is broadcasted by the radio station.
