  • Publication number: 20070249052
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the generation of chondrons and of cartilaginous tissue. In particular, the present invention relates to the ability of Mg ions to stimulate the growth and regeneration of chondrons, particularly of pseudo-chondrons as an intermediate in the regeneration and growth of cartilaginous tissue. Especially, Unphysiologically high extracellular concentrations of Mg are able to regenerate hyaline cartilage, elastic cartilage and/or fibrocartilage via the intermediate form of chondrons.

  • Publication number: 20050079088
Abstract: The use of a magnesium substance, whose corrosiveness is altered as a result of modification with halogenides, enables medical implants, prostheses or prosthesis parts and medical instruments, devices and auxiliary contrivances, especially surgical instruments or tools, for use in and on the human or animal body to be produced, whereby the degree of corrosion-resistance thereof can be adjusted to full corrosion-resistance.

  • Publication number: 20050042440
Abstract: According to the invention, an anti-corrosion coating on a magnesium workpiece can be generated, whereby a halide salt is applied in at least one surface coat to the workpiece, with a thermodynamic stability less than a salt formed from magnesium and the same halide, such that, during the application of the halide salt to the workpiece and/or under the influence of a corrosive medium the salt with magnesium is formed.

  • Patent number: 6854172
Abstract: A process for producing implants made of a bioresorbable metal, particularly magnesium alloys or zinc alloys, in which the material properties of the magnesium or the zinc are changed and the processing and utilization properties are improved by combining process steps for adjusting the properties of the material and subsequent machining. In this way it is possible to produce thin-walled tubular implants, particularly blood vessel support stents, from bioresorbable magnesium or zinc alloys, which are readily deformable without the risk of fracture during implantation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 20, 2003
Date of Patent: February 15, 2005
    Assignee: Universitaet Hannover
