  • Patent number: 6771686
Abstract: By dividing at least the part of the correction optics of at least one row of emitter elements, i.e. the part acting as the fast axis collimator, into several segments, the degradation of beam quality at the focus, especially the widening of the focus, which is caused by the nonconformities between the diode laser bars, or between the row of emitter elements, and the correction optics, can be effectively prevented.

  • Patent number: 5903583
Abstract: A diode laser component has at least one cooling element and at least one laser diode arrangement provided on a mounting surface of the cooling element. The cooling element is produced as a multilayer material or substrate made of several stacked layers joined by their flat sides. These layers consist partially of a metal and partially of an insulating material and/or of a material with a smaller thermal expansion coefficient than metal. At least some of the layers form a cooling plane. At least one cooling channel through which a cooling medium flows is formed in the plane of at least one layer of said cooling plane by at least one recess formed in said layer. Passages or channels are provided for supplying and draining the cooling medium that flows through the cooling channel.

  • Patent number: 5886313
Abstract: A device for plating two or more metal plates, strips, etc., by the absoron of laser energy. The device is fitted with beam-forming optics which form the laser radiation into a beam with a rectangular cross-section. The radiation source is a laser-diode array in which several laser diodes are disposed next to each other in the same plane to give bars which can be laid next to each other, as well as stacked one on top of each other, in any numbers. In order to homogenize the laser radiation produced by the array to give a rectangular cross-section, the device proposed is fitted with special optics such as a prism which converges in the shape of a wedge, a glass plate, with a rectangular cross-section, reflective boundary drives, etc. The rectangular cross-section beam heats the two surfaces of the metal plates being plated only locally, over limited areas and to small depths, to the plastic state.

  • Patent number: 5705788
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for material treatment with diode radiation, especially laser diode radiation. To match the radiation profile to the treatment process, the process is so carried out that radiation emitted from a multiplicity of diodes is directed with a predetermined radiation profile upon the treated region of the workpiece and that a change in the intensity distribution in the radiation profile is effected by controlling the diode output power.
