  • Patent number: 5795340
Abstract: The invention relates to a microcatheter set with a minimized dead space which has a medicine application and flushing device especially suitable for intensive paediatric-neonatologial medicine. It makes it possible not only to apply infusion therapy via a microcatheter inserted into a large body vein but also to administer drugs repeatedly without any danger via the medicine application and flushing device integrated within the set, even with highly pharmacologically effective additives to the general infusion solution, and/or to do away with partial and total catheter shut-offs. This thus excludes additional stress on and risk for the patient by the repeated application of peripheral infusions or the use of surgically inserted double-lumen central catheters for the intravenous administration of drugs.

  • Patent number: 5688244
Abstract: An apparatus for infusion monitoring including a pressure transmission line branched from the infusion hose and a diaphragm connected with the infusion hose, the diaphragm being able to be connected with a pressure sensor for registering a change in curvature of the diaphragm. In order to achieve the aim of providing an apparatus of this type which renders possible on the one hand a reliable monitoring of infusion and on the other hand a way of preventing the production of a false alarm in a substantially reliable fashion, the apparatus of this type is so designed that in the infusion hose between the branch point of the pressure transmission line and the free end, adjacent to the patient, of the infusion hose a one-way valve is arranged, which permits a direction of flow to the patient.

  • Patent number: 5609572
Abstract: A modular cassette infusion system for multiple infusions and the automatic administration of medicament. Sterile disposable cassettes are employed, which possess integral connections for the infusion lines, inlet valves, liquid distribution ducts, pump chambers, outlet valves, venting filters and chambers for the measurement of the infusion pressure. The system renders possible the infusion of 3, 6 or more different infusion solutions and medicaments held in disposable syringes via one or more small-volume pump chambers with outlet valve separately via a plurality thereof in parallel via only one vascular access point to the patient with the correct volume in a pulsating manner or in very small individual quantities substantially continuously in a quick succession one after the other without incompatible medicaments being mixed.

  • Patent number: 5383447
Abstract: A device for heating and moistening respiratory gases with a small volume of dead space which is especially suitable for giving artificial respiration to premature and newborn infants and children. This device includes three parts, whereby two parts, largely made of metal, are interconnected in a housing and form a connecting component combined with an active steam-sterilizable moistening and heating device into which a third part, a one-time heating-moistening exchanger insert, is fitted. The upper third of this insert acts as a passive heat-moisture exchanger which premoistens and preheats the dry respiratory gas on inspiration (about 30.degree. C., 100% relative humidity) and the central and lower third of which, supported by the active moistening device and heating with the aid of the active heat-moisture device, finally undertakes the optimum conditioning of the respiratory gas (36-37.degree. C., 100% r.h.).

  • Patent number: 5109471
Abstract: An apparatus for warming and humidifying respiratory gases during artificial respiration includes two passive heat and moisture exchangers and an active warming and humidifying element disposed between them in a housing. The first passive heat and moisture exchanger serves to preheat and prehumidify cold and dry gases to be inhaled. In a further, downstream, active heat and moisture exchanger and the second heat and moisture exchanger, gases are additionally heated and humidified, thus ensuring optimum physiological conditioning of the respiratory gases to a temperature of 36.degree.-37.degree. C. and 100% relative humidity. In an exhalation phase, 70 to 80% of humidity and heat are recovered from the optimally conditioned humid and warmed respiratory gas with the aid of the two integral passive heat and moisture exchangers.

  • Patent number: 4360104
Abstract: A sterile hose set for use in apparatus for artificial respiration and for respiration-assisting and aerosol therapies consists of a tubular container, which is totally enclosed and internally sterile and has been made in one step from plastic material by blowing with sterile air. The hose set consists of a plurality of successive hose sections, which differ in length and are smooth-surfaced or pleated and are joined in a unit. Each of said hose sections is provided at both ends with special adapters. The terminal hose sections are closed at one end and provided at the other end with a special adapter. Disconnects are provided between the hose sections and at the ends of the hose set.

  • Patent number: 4224939
Abstract: An appliance for establishing a bacteriologically safe connection between a respirator and an endotracheal tube comprises a head fitting, which is adapted to be mounted on the endotracheal tube. A flexible tube for supplying inhalable gas and a flexible withdrawing tube for withdrawing exhaled air are connected to said head fitting. An exhalation valve is incorporated in the withdrawing tube and is incorporated by a controller in step with the artificial respiration. An inflatable bag, which is manually operable to effect artificial respiration, is connected by a tee fitting to the supply tube, which is connected by a bacteria filter and the controller to the respirator. The inflatable bag is provided with a sensor, which is connected by a signal line to the controller and causes the latter to close and open the exhalation valve in step with the manually effected artificial respiration.

  • Patent number: 4013742
Abstract: In a humidifying and heating apparatus for respiratory gas, a transformer for inductively heating a humidifying liquid is provided in a housing having a socket, whilst a vessel for containing the liquid is made as a separable sterilizable or disposable unit through which the respiratory gas can be passed and which has a plug connector releasably engaged in the socket. The secondary transformer winding is in the form of a plate which is disposed in the plug connector and comprises an upper portion in contact with the liquid and a lower portion straddling the transformer core.
