  • Patent number: 6329754
Abstract: A diagnostic system for a ballast of a high-pressure gas discharge lamp in a motor vehicle includes the ballast and a separate light control module that controls the ballast via a supply line and in case of a fault, the ballast gives a modulated diagnostic signal via the supply line to the light control module. For this, in case of a fault, the ballast modulates a current that is received, using a switchable current sink, such that the light control module receives coded diagnostic information via the supply line.

  • Patent number: 4321390
Abstract: A process for the preparation of insoluble metal complex colorants of the formula ##STR1## where R, R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 may be identical or different and each is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, chlorine, bromine, trifluoromethyl or phenyl,Me is copper, cobalt or preferably nickel,Z is NH, O or S andA is one equivalent of an anion,by condensing the corresponding 1,3-diiminoisoindoline and thiazolidine derivative in the molar ratio of 1:1 in water, isolating the 1:1 condensation product, reacting the latter with a metal salt MeA.sub.2 in an aprotic polar water-miscible solvent and isolating the reaction product. The water-containing press cake of the 1:1 condensation product can be used for the reaction with the metal salt MeA.sub.2, in which case the water, together with a part of the solvent, is distilled off during the reaction in which (I) is formed. The process has great economic advantages over the prior art processes.

  • Patent number: 4206113
Abstract: Dyes of the formula I ##STR1## in which A is phenyl or phenyl substituted by chloro, bromo, nitro, methyl, ethyl, methoxy or ethoxy; B.sup.1 is hydrogen, chloro, bromo, nitro, methyl or trifluoromethyl; B.sup.2 is hydrogen, chloro, bromo or nitro; R is C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl; and X is hydrogen, chloro or bromo. The compounds are distinguished by high color strength, brilliance and good fastness properties such as light-fastness, fastness to overspraying, plasticizers fastness and insolubility in most solvents used in connection with pigments. They are particularly suitable for the coloring of air-drying surface coatings, rigid polyvinyl chloride and emulsion paints.
