  • Publication number: 20080260626
Abstract: A powdery photocatalyst based on titanium dioxide displays a bimodal particle size distribution of primary particles, with one particle component under about 30 nm and a second particle component over about 100 nm. The photocatalyst is manufactured by mixing at least two TiO2 components. One component is a TiO2 photocatalyst which is active in UV light and/or in visible light and which displays a specific surface according to BET of at least about 120 m2/g. The second component is anatase and/or rutile displaying a specific surface according to BET of less than about 50 m2/g. The two components are contained in the photocatalyst at a weight ratio of 1:1000 to 1000:1.

  • Publication number: 20070298059
Abstract: A method for marking titanium dioxide pigment particles, as well as a method for identifying and verifying products via the marked titanium dioxide pigment particles contained in these products. The marker substance(s) is/are added during titanium dioxide production, preferably during surface treatment, drying or steam-milling. Particularly suitable as marker substances are the lanthanides, yttrium, zinc, molybdenum, tungsten, germanium, tin and scandium. The method is used to verify authentic product, to identify product forgeries (product piracy), to track distribution channels, or to identify the pigment used in order to counter unjustified complaints. It can be used in the product segments: fibres for textiles, papers for documents, pharmaceuticals, and also for plastics and coatings.

  • Publication number: 20070262737
Abstract: A circuit device is disclosed which is used to increase useable motor voltage in a long stator drive. Further, suitable methods for operating a magnetically levitated vehicle provided with the circuit device are also disclosed. In one embodiment of the present invention, the stator section of the long stator drive is connected to the energy supply line on two connection points by way of a first and a second switch. A third switch is located between both connection points arranged on the energy supply line. Both of the stator section connections are connected to the ground potential by way of a fourth and a fifth switch. In one embodiment, in order to accelerate the magnetically levitated vehicle, the first and the second switches are closed and all other switches are opened. The stator section is cross-flown in a direct manner by current in the energy supply line.

  • Publication number: 20070211804
Abstract: The invention is based on the idea of providing a method for high-resolution, waveform-preserving digitization of analog signals, wherein conventional scalar logarithmic quantization is transferred to multi-dimensional spherical coordinates, and the advantages resulting from this, e.g., a constant signal/noise ratio over an extremely high dynamic range with very low loss with respect to the rate-distortion theory. In order to make use of the statistical dependencies present in the source signal for an additional gain in the signal/noise ratio, the differential pulse code modulation (DPCM) is combined with spherical logarithmic quantization. The resulting method achieves an effective data reduction with a high long-term and short-term signal/noise ratio with an extremely small signal delay.

  • Publication number: 20070175363
Abstract: The invention relates to a rutile titanium dioxide pigment for use in decorative laminating papers that yields higher opacity of the papers compared to the prior art, as well as a method for its manufacture. The pigment displays a surface coating that contains aluminium phosphate, aluminium oxide, silicon oxide and titanium oxide. The silicon oxide is precipitated in fluffy form. The coated particles display a BET value of at least 15 m2/g. The manufacturing method is characterized in that an aluminium and a phosphorus component are first added to a TiO2 suspension. Thereafter, an alkaline silicon component, an acid-reacting titanium component and, optionally, a further pH-regulating component are added, the pH value being set in the range from 4 to 9 in this context.

  • Patent number: 7166157
Abstract: A method and material for improved TiO2 pigment for paper and laminates is described. Phosphorous, titanium, and aluminum compounds are successively added to a TiO2 pigment suspension. Resulting pigments show improved greying resistance and hiding power over prior art pigments, and show improved results as pigments in tests of paper and laminates.

  • Patent number: 7147702
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the surface treatment of a titanium dioxide that leads to pigments with improved retention and improved opacity, where consistently high opacity can be obtained using less pigment. The method is characterised in that an aluminium component and a phosphorus component are first added to a TiO2 suspension, during which process its pH value does not drop below 10. The pH value of the suspension is subsequently lowered to below 9 by adding an acid component. The pigment produced by the method according to the invention is eminently suited to use in decorative laminating paper.

  • Patent number: 6962622
Abstract: The invention relates to a titanium dioxide pigment mixture comprising a pigment having high greying stability (pigment type A) and a pigment having increased SiO2 and Al2O3 content in flaky precipitation (pigment type B). Said mixture provides, for example in paper, a high level of opacity for sufficient greying stability. If necessary, the light-fastness of the paper can be further increased by means of known production-conditioned measures on pigment type B.

Abstract: A connection for two items of installation equipment lined up beside each other with their end or broad sides against each other, in particular line-protection circuit breakers, residual current circuit breakers and the like, whose housings are each formed from two shell-shaped housing parts. The connecting element has an approximately cylindrical base body with a first outer diameter onto which, on both sides, two radially springy spreading arms projecting axially in opposite directions are integrally molded. The outside diameter of the spreading arms is smaller than the outside diameter of the base body and free ends of the spreading arms have radially protruding lugs which, when assembled, latch in behind protrusions on the housings of the items of installation equipment located beside each other and to be connected by the connecting element.
