Abstract: A video monitor contrast reference gray scale apparatus, and method of use thereof, wherein the apparatus comprises a reference gray scale housing, a reference gray scale which comprises a plurality of fields which provide a contrast range on the reference gray scale, a light source which is located inside the reference gray scale housing and which provides illumination to the reference gray scale, and a power supply for providing power to the light source. The reference gray scale is located in the reference gray scale housing, and further, the power supply provides power to the light source so as to provide illumination of the reference gray scale. A method for utilizing the apparatus for matching a contrast range of a camera video assist with a contrast range of a film camera negative. A method for matching a contrast range of a reference gray scale with a contrast range of a film camera negative, in conjunction with an adjustable contrast filter device and/or a camera viewfinder ocular.

Abstract: A soft light having a housing with a front opening and a hinged upper portion, a light source arranged in a lower frontal position in the housing, an internal reflector for direction light from the light source toward a rear portion of the housing opposite the front opening, and a rear reflector removably mounted in the housing so as to reflect the light from the light source and the internal reflector out of the front opening of the housing.

Abstract: An adjustable photographic device includes a light transmission element for allowing light from an object to be photographed to pass therethrough, and light sources positioned around the periphery of the light transmission element for introducing light into the periphery of the light transmission element. This light introduced into the periphery of the light transmission element is internally reflected in the light transmission element causing the contrast of the photographed image to be controlled or modified without effecting the resolution thereof.

Abstract: A light fixture for providing a cool uniform illumination into a photography field which is adjustable in intensity while maintaining a uniform color temperature. The light fixture includes a light source, an adjustable shutter for adjusting the amount of light passing therethrough, a reflector mirror having a dichroic heat coating thereon for reflecting the light from the shutter while passing any heat contained therein, and a round reflector for receiving the light from the reflector mirror through an end face and for dispersing the light through the circumference thereof by internal reflectance.

Abstract: An apparatus for indicating the contrast range in a scene to be photographed arranged to be situated within the field of view of a viewfinder of a camera. The apparatus includes a plurality of matching fields of respectively differing gray scale reflectance and a light source for illuminating the matching fields to an extent substantially similar to that of the scene to be photographed. By comparing the dark and light areas of the scene with the matching fields, a photographer is able to directly determine the contrast range of the scene and, if necessary, to adjust the same for the desired purpose.

Abstract: A photography light for providing fill illumination includes a first reflector having planar sides and an opening in a rear portion thereof, a second reflector lying within the first reflector and overlying the opening therein. The second reflector forming light compensating channels with the sides of the first reflector and includes at least one aperture in a rear surface thereof through which lamps may be variably positioned. The light compensating channels allow a portion of the light blocked by the backs of the reflectors when the lamps are in a retracted position, to pass to the front portion of the reflectors to be reflected into the photographing field thereby smoothing the illumination therein.
