  • Patent number: 5012861
Abstract: A machine housing having one wall with an outer side provided with ribs for the discharge of heat to the surrounding air. The ribs define undulation crests and there are curved undulation bases between the undulation crests. The ratio between the wall thickness and the rib height and the ratio between the rib pitch or spacing of the wall thickness and the radius of curvature of the undulations as compared with the wall thickness are all recited. The ribs preferably are parallel and preferably extend vertically in the installed position of the machine housing.

  • Patent number: 4565352
Abstract: A motor with output shaft is coupled to an input shaft of a planetary gear system inside a case which in turn is disposed in the winch drive. The output shaft of the transmission gear traverses the other end of the case and is connected to a web plate of the winch drum by means of a spline shaft. On one end of the winch drum, the casing for the transmission gear and the shield of the motor are interconnected and connected to a principle frame and the winch drum is journaled thereat through roller bearings using cylindrical surfaces of the case and the drum directly as races. The winch drum is journaled at the other end through appropriate bearings in the principle carrier frame.

  • Patent number: 4344515
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a claw clutch mechanism, comprising opposing, interengaged clutch halves, each having axially projecting claws extending into the other. Cylindrical elastic bumpers are interposed between adjacent claws to absorb shock and accommodate axial displacement of the clutch halves. The clutch halves are of pressure cast aluminum construction, formed to provide large radius transitional fillets or roundings at the base of the claws, which correspond in radius to the contours of the cylindrical elastic bumpers. Integral reinforcing rings connect the angularly arrayed claws of each clutch half, both on the outside and the inside of the claws, to provide mechanical support for about half the length of the claw. The reinforcing rings also serve to confine the elastic bumpers, and may be provided with opposed flat surfaces at positions corresponding to bumper locations.
